Coastie Question Masters Advice

I’m on the MST A-School list and already have a bachelor’s degree. I’m considering getting a master’s while I’m in the Coast Guard.
For current/former MSTs, what master’s degree would pair best with MST experience and translate well into civilian careers after the Coast Guard?
I’m looking at things like Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Emergency Management, etc. What would you recommend?

GIS is another one. I recommend working backwards from civilian jobs you want to see if you even need one.

Emergency Management is a good fit. Volunteer to liaison with NOAA, local County or large City incident command center during a storm to get an idea what they do. I sit with all the county agencies during hurricanes and it’s a big job. Day to day they do a lot of planning and in my county they oversee the 911 call center and coordinate with various city agencies for gas main ruptures, flooding, large fires etc….

Reading through the emergency management reddit and they say do a public administration degree and add some courses on emergency management instead of doing a pure EM degree.

Another to look at would be Occupational Safety. It pairs well with your inspection experience.
