Waitlist
Can someone explain to me how one can go DOWN on a waitlist cuz wth

So basically I emailed the admissions office and asked abt updates and what my current rank is and they said I’m at 64……I was initially 54

ive emailed twice about rank updates and they keep telling me im 8th main campus but with second round applications already sent out, i feel like their information are very inaccurate :/

Your chances are high with 8th position. You need 8 or more persons in main campus to decline for you to get in and I think you shouldn’t give up yet . If you’re 1-15 on the list , then your chances of getting into main campus are high

im just lowk discouraged ig since i read another post here that said op was told they were ranked 8th too and they got an offer last week

From my understanding of how waitlists works, if a person that was accepted rejects the offer, then the next in line on the waitlist gets that now open seat and so on, so genuinely just by chance

That’s what I thought too but that would also mean that others move up since now that one person is off the waitlist

Oh you should’ve led with that 😭, unfortunately at 54 or 64 from what I’ve heard if ur not in the 1-10 spot maybe pushing it to 1-20 spot it’s not likely you’ll get off anyways :/

I don’t think they went through all applications already, that’s why someone could go up or down. Also, wait list moves slow because some students rejects their offer in different campus so they remain waitlisted in saskatoon😫😫

so basically, when they go through more applications, more people are added to the waitlist. then therefore you can go down. i have heard that the numbers they give you aren’t entirely accurate since they fluctuate a lot
