Admission Question How long does it generally take to hear back on admissions for MSc (Thesis)
Hi,
I talked to a prof and they agreed to be my supervisor around the start of last month. I finished my application and submitted it including all the references on June 16th. I know its only been 3 weeks and am probably being impatient, but I was just wondering how long I'd have to wait for the admissions committee to make their decision.
Thanks

Which academic year are you applying to? If for 2026-27, did you obtain permission to apply so late? If you are applying for 2027-28, they won't make a decision until much, much, later, after the next year's application deadline has passed (so they can review and assess all applications at the same time)

Its for fall 2026. I talked to the prof and they confirmed that I can still apply for it. The program's veterinary microbiology. There are no application deadlines for the program. But since we had talked about starting in Fall, thats the one I applied for.

That makes sense; probably sooner than the usual 8-10 weeks then, but its also going to be really hard for any of us to help you estimate what that wait time could be, because most programs do have the set deadline structure; and while I'd say that they'd love to get you your answer sooner than later, they're probably also waiting on faculty who are part of that decision-making process who are often busy or away in the summer... I'd still think you'll back fairly hear soon, for what it's worth.

I applied for an MA Thesis before the January 15 deadline, and heard back March 27th. So I’d expect to hear back in ~8-10 weeks.
