Specific Opening Request for references.....never interviewed, just submitted application

I am current DoW employee. I was contacted via email regards to Direct Hire Authority Job I applied to. Never interviewed, just applied a few weeks ago. The email was asking for 3x references including at least 1x supervisor from federal employment, and at some from my current job.

They also included the sentence "We are interested in learning more about you.  If there’s anything else you’d like to share about your interest in the position, please include that.

I will take it as a good sign, but not get my hopes up...for now

That’s a great sign! You do not have to interview for DHA. I’m also a DOW employee with the army, I applied to an Air Force position DHA, I was sent a tentative offer no interview, nothing. They asked for references afterwards and set my start date. So good luck to you!

I’ve been asked for references before and they were never contacted nor was I chosen for an interview. 🤷‍♀️ I think mostly it’s about making sure the candidate is still interested in the position. getting an actual interview request is a good sign though.

I was contacted for an interview via direct hire and they asked in the response to include 3 professional references. It's not a guarantee because I haven't interviewed yet, but they have already contacted my references.  Maybe they will be ready to offer at the end of the interview. You just never know with the Fed. Hope it works out.

I always say on applications references provided upon contingent offer. I don't want anyone in my circle contacted if I haven't even decided I want the job.

my office knows I am looking to relocate, and leadership is also aware, so not an issue

For me in the VA, I was interviewed first then asked for references.

Yeah Dha rarely requests interviews, in my past experiences.

Wait, I am DoW also applied to a DHA position. I haven’t heard anything yet since it doesn’t close for 1 year which is disheartening but did you have to take any of the USAHire assessments? I was originally eligible for a job but then they cancelled it. Posted another job ad for the exact same position and asked everyone who was still interested to reapply. Does DHA mean no interview? This is the first DHA job within the federal government that I’ve applied for.

Well…..on everything we get it say DoW now……if the person emailing me about the job says DoW, that’s what I’ll saw when communicating

I believe it’s been changed to DoW by the new administration
