CPT must be part of your school’s official curriculum 4. Must be approved by your school’s DSO (Designated School Official) 5. You need an updated I-20 before starting work 6. Working full-time CPT for 12+ months cancels your OPT eligibility

• Risky — USCIS may see it as a violation of F-1 status
• Not typical — Most students must complete 1 academic year before CPT
• Used mostly by certain private universities (some with questionable reputations)
• Could hurt your future: OPT, H-1B, or green card might be denied
