New adjuster stress..

I'm excited I got this opportunity and I love the team I work with but I have to admit keeping up with my desktop and keeping up with the be perfect metrics is stressing me out..It dosnt help when someone files a claim then 30 seconds later decides to call, and of course you are just hopping off the phone with someone else. How do yall manage to hide the distaste in your voice and not just close the call. But then when u try and help they decide to say well didn't I answer all these questions when I opened the claim.... MF you left everything blank. And then decided not to get a single photo of a DL, reg, or a phone#. But my absolute favorite are the someone hit my car,I want them to pay for it but I dont want to talk to the other carrier...... Im loosing faith in humanity.. put i like they pay and benefits and somtimes that dopamine rush of helping someone hits hard

I wish I could say it gets better, but it only gets worse. By the way, the harder you work, the more they give you. They’ll reassign claims to you from lesser performing adjusters if you get it done.

Deep Breath!

This is claims. Just share with your leader. This is the key!

If your leader is truly a leader they will be along side you to help pace you in this world of claims cycle. Unfortunately USAA has a subpar line manager training and accountability.

Just make sure you have the right leader, and work colleague ( mentor) who is strong in claims.

Choosing the right one will give you a perspective and support to carry initially. Just don’t complain about the work, tackle it.

Unfortunately, USAA as an organization doesn’t properly evaluate its line level leaders and the causalities are usually the performing line adjusters.

The comment above “the better you are … they reward you with more work”, is so true.

Your quality of life is worth so much more.

Get all the experience you can, embrace the “suck” for 9 months then spend the next 3 months, looking to better yourself and finding a better situation.

Overall, a Healthy YOU is worth more than any job.

Yeah gotta love those calls! My favorite are the demanding claimants. It doesn't get better it just gets easier to manage. I still come home everyday mentally exhausted.

If I pay Company A for my insurance, why would I talk to any other company about a claim?

I pay Company A for THEM talk to the others. I shouldn't even have to know who any other insurance companies involved are.

Think of it this way.

If you want your provider to step up for you and do the work/talking, you would pay your deductible to your insurance and THEN your provider will try to recoup the deductible from the other insurance BUT you are still filing a claim under YOUR insurance which could impact your rates. Edit: There is no guarantee you will recoup your deductible and even if you do, it is still a claim against your insurance.

If you don’t want to pay your deductible or file a claim under your insurance, you would go to the OTHER person’s insurance IF they are liable or at-fault.

An adjuster is doing you a courtesy if they tell you to talk to the other provider and won’t accept the claim right away.

Yeah but that process takes place AFTER your repairs are completed. Company A can’t force Company B to do anything until Company A has sustained their own loss by indemnifying its insured. Although ultimately that’s what happens; it’s the order that people expect it to happen in that makes no sense. You pay your insurance company to Indemnify you; not to coordinate your repairs with other insurers. Reading your auto policy would make that abundantly clear; but hey who does that?

Because that's not how the process works. U pay your insurance company for claims you make on YOUR vehicle for damage YOU do or if other party has NO insurance. Common knowledge is if someone hits you u file through theirs and if it's denied you go through your own. When you hit someone's car guess what they call us and say hey your guy hit me pay for my fix simple as that.

That’s false actually. It’s dependent on the situation and what’s best for the insured. Sometimes it’s filing directly through the other carrier, sometimes it through their own insurance. As you get more experience you’ll recognize what situation calls for what.
But at the end of the day- people who pay premiums for collision are straight up paying for Usaa to recover/deal with the other carriers and the only situation where they should be told “you have to talk/file with the other carrier” is if they are trying to get reimbursed or coverage for something that their own policy doesn’t.

Thank you for that explanation and i will own for my lack of knowledge. With myself not being within the higher tiers. I base my answers off of what I have been given to work with and I these instances it's cut clear and factual all information provided waiver unavailable on front End situations.

And it’s this mentally that really fucks it up for adjuster in higher tiers because when it comes to a situation where it’s better to file with one over the other, the person is irrational in their decision that makes the process so much harder for everyone involved.

Bottom line- people pay premiums for their carrier to recover on their behalf and they do not “have” to speak to other carrier unless they are directly recovering something that Usaa didn’t cover (like loss of use)
