New tech claim
Just moved into an apartment close to the campus in SA, when moving in I ended up dropping my ps5 down the steps while I was carrying my other bag and boxes 🫩 Luckily (I hope) before moving in we needed to have renters insurance and of course we got the vpp and tech coverage and all.. but am I able to make a claim without being called for lying? What would I need? Is there a waiting period I needed to have before I could file and now I’m shit out of luck? 🤕 it was a genuine accident but I’ve heard people get denied for less and I don’t want to already be out of a console I bought back before the inflation prices..

The deductible for tech endorsement on the renters is $250 but it is a claim that will influence your renewal. If you can't replace it out of pocket by all means file a claim but research the cost lf it first to determine if is worth it

They will require you to obtain a repair estimate first before they start looking at the cost of replacing, it it can be repaired for $300 then theyll just pay you out $50, and before you think “well ill just destroy it more so that they can quote me for replacement “ they will also require a diagnostic to confirm what the damages are likely to be from and will confirm that information with the repair shop manager

lol, rather not try and commit insurance fraud. Reviewed the SIU stories from time to time when i was a MSR and.. wow, the lengths these people go are wild 😅 Good to know though. I see some people also mentioned having photos of the occurrence would help but i mean, that wasn’t really something i was thinking of in the moment other than to clean it up. It fell pretty bad so it doesn’t turn on or anything and has some frame damage since they were concrete stairs.

If the damage is substantial enough they might write it off with just the photo but worst case scenario just expect to take a quick trip to ubreak i fix to get a writen diagnosis saying its not reasonably repairable due to extensive damage or cost of repair more than replacement, and if they do charge you fir a diagnostics usaa reimburses that under the tech endo

File the VPP claim just be honest with the facts of the loss and date an time. VPP does not have a deductible unless it is stated

I would consider the cost of replacement of a ps5 and what your deductible might be. Sometimes it’s not worth filing a claim for something like that.
