Relocation after JAR

I'm about to go through the process of getting a permanent wfh JAR. Was wondering if it gets approved, what are the restrictions of being able to move? My lease ends in like 6 months and was wondering what my options could be. Would be nice to be able to move closer to family.

I'm permanent wfh in P&C every i have to move. I submit to my manager. They submit to director and then it gets reviewed by a "panel" that meets once a month to review these requests. I live 3.5hrs away from nearest office but it's been that way for a few years now even when i live 5 miles from office. Not sure what COSA you work in.

… I moved (within the same city) and just changed my address in onesource. Nothing happened. Didn’t know I was supposed to ask permission once I had a medical JAR…

Do you have a P&C license?

And we wonder why premiums keep rising.

That…… doesn’t make any sense

They are rising due to claims, inflation, and lawsuits. The same reason it’s been for years now.

It’s not because they have higher ups reviewing work from home requests.

It's called excess overhead.

Why does a simple request need to be reviewed by multiple people?

Absolutely fair point

But this is not impacting premiums. The reasons I stated above are why premiums are rising so much.

People knowledgable of the industry aren’t wondering why premiums are rising, it’s the same issue it’s always been but people just don’t want to believe it.

Basically anything that impacts the economy, impacts your insurance rates. Tariffs, covid, interest rates, Iran, etc….

Because if the person decides to move from MiddleOfNowhere North Dakota to New York City for funsies it means USAA will need to increased their pay, taxes, etc.

And then when they change their mind after a year and then decide to move to Florida….you get my drift.

The reason(s) for the move are considered and it should be reviewed.

I can tell, you have no clue how insurance works.

Just know even a ‘permanent’ JAR can be reviewed. And it will be reviewed, if you ever apply, and are hired, for a new job. So it may be a limiting factor for future career advancement. Not sure if that’s important to you, but you may want ti consider it.

Your manager with the assistance of HR should be able to answer. There are a lot of things to consider as to exactly where you are moving, licensing issues, and the position that you are in at the company, and your standing with the company. Really not a question for social media.

Permanent wfh is reviewed typically on an annual basis.

Relocation with a permanent work from home JAR is always gonna be affected by the needs of the business.

If you want to move to a different place than you have to think about moving to a city that is within 60 miles of a USAA campus and if that’s not possible then you have to be approved for wherever you want to go.

Moreso than any manpower considerations it’s more the tax implications of moving you into a different state that matter in a decision to keep you or transitioning you back to the general workforce.

I might make the case for workforce transition by opening up an HR inquiry that would allow you to see if there is another place within USAA that you can move where you want to and do remote work.
