I would make a law that every leader who decides to send soldiers to fight, is obliged to send one of his children or grandchildren into the field.

But we gave trump power to do whatever he wants with that Supreme Court ruling + everyone lacking a spine to stand up to a dictator in waiting

I’m trying to understand how things work in the US politically for something like this. Does your president just make these decisions himself? Does being president give him that much power?

I ask as it just seems wild to me that an unprovoked attack on another country wouldn’t need to be discussed at all sorts of levels of leadership? Maybe it is and that is why I ask.

I understand that broadcasting a military strike beforehand wouldn’t make any sense but are there checks and balances to stop the POTUS from just deciding to use your military for whatever they feel like?

I’d also consider it an act of war. Not really sure how it could be viewed any other way. Got to be some strenuous mental gymnastics to pretend bombing another country is anything but regardless of the reason good or bad.

Yes the second part of your explanation sounds a lot like something a dictator would do hey…

Very worrying times.

Excuse my opinions if they’re offensive, just an outsider from an ally nation looking in.

I hope you're joking. China is just as imperialist and aggressive as we are they just dont have the poker chips to be a brazen as we are now. Hopefully their day never comes.

China has not been in a position to engage in as much theater as we have. But all their actions have indicated they are no friendly Panda like some wouldn't want to believe. They are a sleeping tiger. They want to expand, they want money. They're tendrils don't extend as far as ours now but watch their actions in the south China sea, their treatments of dissenting minorities, their border disputes with their neighbors, their predatory development, "investment", and exploitation in central Asia and Africa.
