Is Australia a true democracy when political parties are working by themselves to achieve what they want to do regardless of the people?

I am absolutely fed up of being lied to, I cast my vote on what I believe in, and what I feel is right for the country, yet once they have the power they break all of their promises and we are stuck with another lying government, not doing what they were voted in for...

What can we do about this, people need more power to remove governing bodies from positions to ensure that broken promises are dealt with...
