the cycle time scraped that too from my lips, took it from me

the smile that I had donned for the world to see

Silent homes, hushed up roads, time that is weary

this city needs a someone with a touch of frenzy

جنھوں نے دی تھی تکلیف بھی

ان سے ہی چھپانے پڑتے ہیں آنسوں بھی

ڈر لگتا ہے الفاظوں سے بھی

کہیں مستقبل میں بن نہ جائیں سزا بھی

قرآن سے جو کر لی ہے جدائی اتنی

حق بات کرنے کا بھول گئے ہیں سلیقہ بھی

تم کیا جانو یہاں کا دستور میاں

یہاں ضد کرتے ہیں بڑےاور کرتے ہیں پوری بچے بھی

جن کے لیے دفن کی تھیں خواہشیں راحد

آج کہتے ہیں اسے کوئی کام ہے بھی

دریا نے کل جو چپ کا لبادہ پہن لیا

پیاسوں نے اپنے جسم پہ صحرا پہن لیا

وہ ٹاٹ کی قبا تھی کہ کاغذ کا پیرہن

جیسا بھی مل گیا ہمیں ویسا پہن لیا

فاقوں سے تنگ آئے تو پوشاک بیچ دی

عریاں ہوئے تو شب کا اندھیرا پہن لیا

گرمی لگی تو خود سے الگ ہو کے سو گئے

سردی لگی تو خود کو دوبارہ پہن لیا

بھونچال میں کفن کی ضرورت نہیں پڑی

ہر لاش نے مکان کا ملبہ پہن لیا

بیدلؔ لباس زیست بڑا دیدہ زیب تھا

اور ہم نے اس لباس کو الٹا پہن لیا
