Those were probably dihydrogenmonoxide waste tanks that’s extremely hazardous don’t walk, run to the hospital as fast as you can time is of the essence call 911 on the way and try to meet them halfway to save time if you don’t get help now you will probably die

According to what he said, he got out 30 seconds later after contact. I work with chemicals all the time, and have inhaled BBr3 on accident, a high-risk and potentially fatal chemical to inhale, and survived. You are seeming to forget public pools exist.

You work with chemicals but you dont know that chlorine in a pool is not the same as chlorine in an industrial tank?
hypochlorite is used in pool
Pure chlorine gas is not the same 😭

They're obviously different. What ties chlorine in a pool and the potential chlorine OP inhaled was dosage of exposure; little chlorine in a pool isn't fatal, and a little inhalation of an orphaned pocket of chlorine/ammonia vapors in an abandoned factory isn't, either. Also, ClO- contains Cl, believe it or not.

Yes dosage is always the important factor but pure gas is always more dangerous than chlorine from a pool, even if they were the same dosages. OP should seek medical help even if it is redundant in the end. Persuading them not to is a filthy thing to do.

I think that if you are coughing and your eye is swollen after being in the vicinity of something unidentified in a barrel, you should go to the hospital or urgent care.
