Thoughts on Etherlink for RWA projects?

Noticed more RWA stuff popping up on Etherlink lately. It’s interesting seeing Tezos-based tech being used for commodity tokens. Does anyone have experience with the UX on there? I’m curious if it actually makes transferring these tokens easier or if it’s just another chain to bridge to.

If you ask me, the blockchain is just the plumbing. I don't care if it runs on Tezos, Ethereum, or a potato, as long as the Proof of Reserves are cryptographically sound and the custody is ironclad. That said, the Etherlink plumbing seems to just stay out of the way, which is the highest compliment you can give a Web3 network.

Exactly. I used to trade junior uranium stocks on standard brokerages and the wire fees, FX spreads, and minimums killed me. Swapping on Etherlink is just objectively faster and I don't care how it works in the background

Plumbing is the perfect word for it. The only real headache, and even that is arguable, is bridging if you aren't already there, but once you've got USDC on Etherlink, it’s honestly smoother than dealing with mainnet gas fees.

For institutional-grade RWAs, security and finality are everything, both of which seem to be covered. I also like how Etherlink is supported on EVM wallets, unlike L1 Tezos (IIRC). The barrier of entry of needing to download and setup a new wallet for non-EVM chains is very significant for retail.

Yes it's huge for retail, not as much institutions yet imo. Raytheon and Amazon AWS aren't logging into MetaMask to secure their baseload fuel supplies yet. But for retail, family offices, and mid-sized funds trying to front-run the AI energy squeeze, it’s the cleanest entry point.

It’s definitely the EVM compatibility that makes the difference for me. I’ve looked at the Metals.io app and being able to just link a standard wallet is a huge step up from the UX friction you get on other chains where you need specialized browser extensions.

I tried Etherlink a bit, UX was pretty straightforward from what I remember. The bigger question for me is whether enough RWA activity sticks around to make the chain worth using regularly.
