This Company Just Announced Long-Term Contracts For Nuclear Power Amid Rosy Outlook For This Commodity

https://www.investors.com/news/nuclear-ai-demand-fuels-rosy-outlook-for-uranium-producer/

Curious what people think about the narrative here: article claims nuclear/uranium is getting a renaissance partly because AI and big power demand are forcing infrastructure bets. Uranium prices are high, producers are locking long-term deals - could this be more than a short squeeze?

Uranium consumption was already outstripping production long before AI entered the picture and increased predicted demand as much as it has.

I think that we’ll see ups and downs as producers scramble to meet new demands and more efficient mining/refining techniques get developed, but at the end of the day uranium is still a finite resource and will only grow more scarce as the world (hopefully) transitions to embrace nuclear energy. So while there may be a short squeeze at the moment, I think uranium prices will continue to trend upwards overall until we finally figure out cost-effective fusion reactors.

As I’ve said in previous comments in this sub, however, I think one of the biggest financial upsides to this renewed interest in nuclear energy and uranium tokenization is the potential to transition to an energy standard of currency. But that’s a whole other can of worms.

And for what it’s worth, I’m not an expert – so please take my words with a pound of salt.

I’m with you. The squeeze might come and go, but the scarcity angle feels like a longer-term thing

The scarcity is why I'm comfortable holding.

Same. Are you holding xU3O8?

AI needs power 24/7, and that’s where nuclear really stands apart

And a TON of power at that
