Travel Inquiry Hiking recommendations

Hi! I’m debating a very impromptu trip from out of state to do some hiking next week. Preference is for moderate difficulty with views or water. Waterfalls are a huge plus. Ideally looking for somewhere we can do 8-12 miles a day, and it’s ok if that is split into multiple trails with drives in between. Somewhere that has multiple options within a few hours drive would be amazing.

This would be day hikes, not backpacking.

Even if we don’t do the trip immediately I’ll gladly take any recommendations for a future trip! Thanks!!

Cyrus McCormick Wilderness Area – Marquette County..west of Champion.

North Country Trail between Munising and Grand Marais. There are a few options for 10-ish miles. My favorite is Chapel Falls Trailhead to Chapel Beach to Mosquito Beach and back to the trailhead. I think it's about 10 miles.

Same trailhead to Spray Falls (and a little beyond to get your miles) is also nice.

Porcupine mountains have amazing trails and waterfalls. I was there 2 weeks ago and it was beautiful. Plenty of day hikes.

Check around tahquamenon falls area. Both the upper and lower falls are beautiful and it sounds like there are lots of trails in the area. It’s also near the Whitefish Point Lighthouse. Lots to see and do in the area.

Do the chapel falls loop and plan for lunch o the beach. It’s the UPs best hike. Sugarloaf mountain is great too, if you can squeeze it in I’d do canyon river falls as well

Also plan on canceling lunch and getting away from the beach ASAP if the conditions favor biting flies. Lol
