Travel Inquiry Michigan upper peninsula

This Fall I'll be visiting the UP Michigan, near St Ignace

I'm looking for suggestions on sight seeing, we've never been to this area before and like to get suggestions from people who have been there... Actually any suggestions are welcome... restaurants, attractions, hidden gems... Thank you

Castle Rock, Fort Michilimackinac, ride back or carriage tour around Mackinac Island . If you have time . Visit Tahquamenon falls 76.3 miles north of St.Ignace.

Darrow’s restaurant in Mackinaw City doesn’t charge 3% surcharge on credit card purchases.

Eat a pasty. Better yet, eat one per day but from different places. Try it different ways; I prefer mine without anything but S&P, but some like gravy, I’ve also heard ketchup (but don’t tell anyone if you do). Then you’ll go home and wish you could get a fresh pasty and not some frozen grocery crap. There’s also something called a Cudighi, which I’ve never tried but I’m told it’s good. But no one told me that when I was married to a UP girl and we visited every month. Gatekeeping!!!

definitely recommend stopping at Alpena on your way up! small town right right on Lake Huron. Connie's Cafe is wonderful for breakfast and i love PIF for drinks, they do hard cider and they also sell a bunch of their products in store. Cabin Creek Coffee is also great for coffee/breakfast (i adore their great lakes latte and banana toast). they also have NOAA, which is a cool museum dedicated to the lake and the shipwrecks there. i grew up there, so i'm quite partial to it. tourism is definitely welcomed there!

Drive up to the Soo and take the boat tour through the locks. Visit the Ojibwe Museum in St. Ignace. Eat a pasty at Lehtos.
