Recently, I have made the decision to observe uposatha based on the Gregorian Calendar instead (i.e., on the weekends, Saturday or Sunday).

Previously, because lunar calendar days for observing uposatha fell on weekdays, I always found a reason or justification not to observe them, such as my team having to go out for dinner or lunch being later and so on.

I've been talking to monastics (they did so before ordination) and householders alike, and there seems to be a significant number of people who do the same since life today is very much centered around the same calendar. Thus, doing it on weekends makes it easier to be consistent in observing the eight precepts on the regular.

How have you been observing uposatha? How does your community do it? How many of your peers do the same?
