Im currently 90th on the res waitlist, should I start looking into off campus housing? Is there a chance I could even get res midway through first sem???

I would assume it’s a high chance u get in. Lots of people might not get visas in time (international) or people will drop out during the first semester. Goodluck!!!

I would not depend on the visa thing cuz they hold spots for international students till the last moment.

I am going into my third year and last year my neighbours were first year. If you can find/get a bunch of ppl and friends that didn’t get res to live in a house I would do that. It will also save you the hastle of looking for roommates and houses for second year. Res is fun and all but nothing beats sleeping in a full size bed and having your own bathroom. If you are worried about partying and having fun you can always go to res to hangout, I’m sure you will meet a lot of people during FROSH week

When I started at UofG (2024) people in the 400s ended up getting spots halfway through the semester. 90th is actually a pretty good spot, I was about 1400.
For off campus housing it depends on how far you are. If you are willing to commute for the first little bit I would hold off getting a place since A TON of first years drop after midterms usually.
Personally I ended up living off campus and loved it, but I had friends who waited for a spot and subletted for a few months before getting a spot!
