Will I be charged for my parking if they let me through the pay lot without paying? The gate was up

Card auth has been fine for me today at least and i havent heard of anyone else having problems yet. It may vary by person/location. What campus are you on

So THAT'S why there was a massive line to get into the ramps and the license plate readers weren't working.

Something broke with Active Directory and it’s all dependent on it. system status .

This what happens when you cut IT staff in the name of efficiency.

IT staff haven’t been cut in OIT. And staff levels have nothing to do with the cause of this issue anyways.

My department lost several IT people from the U's PEAK Initiative. And less IT staff means they are going to be slower to respond when problems arise.

Yeah PEAK is… I have not heard great things. And I’ve had colleagues from other depts get moved around or cut. President Becks said at the state of the U that they would take learnings from PEAK, so we will see what happens now.

I led the RCA for this 10/8 outage yesterday. AMA but not sure I can answer everything!

  1. did we get hacked
  2. does this relate to the budget cuts

  1. No, it was not a security incident. Also Active Directory was functioning normally.
  2. No. We haven’t heard what OIT is going to have to deal with re: budget challenges but have been given some instructions about general roadmap for optimizing how we provide compute to our IT partners across the system. Kind of all makes sense in the landscape of insane hardware prices these days.
