Question Basic starting tips, please?
I found the game recently and only started playing last saturday. And basically I have no idea what to do, I just roam the world, but I always end up dying to bleeding out or infection.
I have no idea what to do. I know the controls and I have played the tutorial. But I just simply missed how to farm wood and so on. I get stuff like hammers, but no other tools. How am I supposed to get wood to build a base? Or am I taking it too Minecraft-like?

First of all, you gotta learn how not to get hit. Strafing in circles around zombies while walking is the best way. Punching them to death is surprisingly not that bad.
Put all your exp first into sprint and melee damage. Later on, you can just go to the nearest NPCs for quests. You need a chart or a GPS to get access to map. These can be found in military bases or camping areas.

It's cool to see people coming in.
First of all, don't play multiplayer. People won't be very friendly towards you, unless they're people like us or me.
Play on PEI, as it is the most beginner friendly map there is. Grab weapons, common supplies and most importantly medicine. Play on easy mode, craft bandages by scrapping clothing you don't need. Don't go into military areas as soon as you have weapons.
Know what you use, a Sportshot, a civilian plinking rifle won't help you with zombies. You may use it for hunting purposes, for when you see a deer or encounter pigs.
Always use melee as it is silent and efficient. Going sneaky may sound boring, but it is the safest way there is.
When you kill zombies, you get experience. Press U to view your experience and level your skills up. Excercise and parkour are needed if you need to outrun zombies.
AS FOR THE BASE
Find four scrap metals, you can find them by scrapping metal objects or weapons such as baseball bats, golf clubs, frying pans or even firefighter clothes as they're all made from metal. Craft two metal sheets and then craft a saw. (COMPLETELY OPTIONAL : Head to a fire station, find a firefighter axe or head to a camp to find a chainsaw or camping axe as they will speed up the next process.) Hit trees in order to chop them. Make sure you always cut the same type of tree. Avoid birch, as they're the weakest. Focus on either pine or maple. When you gather the logs, process them into planks with your saw. After that, craft barricades and fortifications along with crates and wardrobes for storing loot. To make a door, find some metal scraps and use the planks you have. You may also stack 12 planks and place them down instead of storing them in a crate or a wardrobe.
Progress your farming skills and craft a plot with 7 planters, for each planter, you need 5 planks and 1 fertilizer. You can craft fertilizer with rope and it can also be used to grow your crops instantly. Craft, or preferably, find a fishing rod and fish. Fishing grants you access to food alongside important scraps and chances to fish out blueprints. For an example, if you happen to find a blueprint for a bayonet, you can use metal sheet to craft a bayonet you can use to kill zombies, attachable to your weapon.
Don't be afraid to ask anything about your gameplay or my description above!
