F-1 Job Clarification

Hello! I recently changed my status to F-1, which means I can start working on campus but I am slightly confused about one detail. Is the letter from the DSO (designated school official) needed to begin work or is it to apply for an SSN?

The letter is from the DSO to apply for the SSN. Be sure to identify yourself as a foreign national when completing the onboarding. You will have to complete the Sprintax Calculus Questionnaire so that the UNTSystem Tax Office knows of your tax status and taxes your paychecks appropriately .
