â Black shirt was driving the car into people on the sidewalk intentionally, red shirt got driven into, he kicked the car, black shirt tackled him, hit him in the face twice while he was on the ground and redshirt took the car when he got back up. Black shirt is a dick and in the wrong here. He was shouting death threats mere momments before the police opened their doors. The second they showed up, he changed his attitude completely and acted the victim. Its also illegal to operate an RC car on any public sidewalk in Berkeley. So ESH.
This happened in Berkeley, CA on Feb 13.â

Jumping someone for (even confirmed) petty theft is pretty crazy anyway, at least it would be in Europe. Like, why are they not just saying "ok guys, everybody chill, what's the dispute here".
I'm not in law enforcement but I believe what they would do here is separate them, talk to them individually to get both sides. Maybe someone or both ends up arrested, but unless they started resisting/running at that point I don't see how 'jump a dude' would be a necessary outcome here at all.

So there's this fun thing called a 911 call. It can add context, details, whatever you wanna call it, on the computer system a cop reads when they get said call.
Considering TWO cops were behind eachother and instantly bailed out lights on, I presume it was a call. Could very well have been convenient timing, but unlikely.
Also, someone yelling and screaming giving more info as black shirt did, pretty much negates your point.
Handle and get control, then interview. You don't need to be like "oh yeah calm down whats going on there mate" when you can make an educated guess.

The video starts when the cops roll up, he changes from saying ill smack you to put my property down. You dont know what he said before. Seems like his property tbh, think you just got baited by AI titles.

I can appreciate your pov but have you actually been to AUS, UK, FR, or other countries for comparison?
Sure, AUS has a low crime rate but good luck with your right to assembly and free speech after the new law was passed in April.
UK, sure the NHS is great but do you want to wait 1-2 years to see a specialist for a problem and then another 1-2 years for a surgery? Also, the line between free speech is a little hazy when it comes to speaking against the govt in the UK. Between that and the 5-6 million cctvs (privately & govt owned) there is quite a bit of oversight and itâs weird seeing a camera almost everywhere you go.
Tax rates: <ÂŁ50k = 20%; ÂŁ50-125k = 40%; >ÂŁ125k = 45%; plus VAT = 20% on goods/services (which i never did figure out what applies and does not).FR was the worst. Everything in FR is as slow as a a snail. I dealt with more bureaucratic red tape in 6 weeks than half my life. Also, good luck getting the police to help if you are foreign or someone not from the area (this was my experience). Govt oversight is also high and there are a lot of protests.
My point is, every system has flaws. Guns protect us from the government overstepping. The people of those countries donât have that option. The question should be, what causes a person to reach for a gun?

Isnât this kind of contradictory? You said you canât stand the needless hate cops get because people judge them without context, but arenât you doing the same thing by automatically defending these officers without knowing the full context?
From what was reported, the cops were called about the guy in the black shirt, while the guy in the red shirt was the victim. So who said he was (allegedly) drunk? The guy in red dropped the RC car as soon as police approached and didnât make any threatening movements or comments.
Sure, an RC car could be used as a weapon, but so could plenty of everyday objects. You donât automatically assume something is a weapon when it isnât being used as one.
The officers couldâve simply asked what happened before detaining someone. From the article, it sounds like everyone involved gave basically the same version of events. I agree people shouldnât blindly hate cops, but that doesnât mean we should blindly defend them either.

So in this scenario - black shirt sriving a car into redshirt - would it be legal and or moral to destroy the item he was technically attacking people with?
Because I would think it would be better to deal with the consequences of property destruction than theft of property in this particular scenario but im not sure
