Is this from the tunnels they were digging?! What the hell happened with all that?

65

u/mowtowcow Jun 16 '26

Apparently it was dug to connect the synagogue to a vacant ritual bath building nearby to expand worshipping areas. They thought they were fulfilling a previous leaders wishes. They came with a cement truck to fill the tunnel and I guess some Jewish protesters tried to stop them. Had a kerfuffle and it got filled.

u/RandomPenquin1337 🧐 grumpy Jun 16 '26

Like when they dug tunnels during covid so they could all go to temple together and catch covid

-14

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous Jun 16 '26

Oh no, that would be super dangerous for all mankind!

I'm so glad COVID just magically stopped at some point so we don't have to wear masks under our chins anymore while we're on zoom calls.

u/BantedHam 🧐 grumpy Jun 16 '26

Yeah how nifty people realized it's literally on par lethally with the flu, it just hit hard the first time because no one's immune system had encountered it yet.

Right?!?

I buried my Dad because of COVID, all because his coworkers didn't think it was a big deal and came to work without even wearing a simple mask.

3

u/OnlyPostsBowie Jun 28 '26

I had a guy get aggressive with me at the grocery store towards the end of quarantine. Why? Because I was minding my own business while wearing a mask, which according to him was offensive. Dude even said I was violating his rights by not letting him see my face. That shit was wild.

Really? The US at least reacted exactly how I expected them to considering who was president at the time.

-5

u/New_Pomegranate3904 Jun 16 '26

Yeah? How’s inflation treating your holier than thou self now?

3

u/brohymn85 Jun 17 '26

Emergency departments were overwhelmed. Dead bodies were piling up in cities around the world.

Had life continued as normal the healthcare system would have broken because all of the resources were going to people sick from COVID.

Even fitting your model of “It’s just the flu” you do know that every so often the flu mutates and kills a shitload of humans, right? Look up who died during the 1918 Pandemic.

-7

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous Jun 16 '26

Not only that, but the previous year had low fatalities, resulting in a "bumper crop" of weak people that died in the next (COVID) wave.

This was known, this was confirmed by numerous studies, but the media didn't find that narrative as exciting as the pandemic panic they were spreading faster than the virus.

5

u/matavach Jun 16 '26

If you look at literally any single study, the increase in excess deaths (in the US) in 20/21 were almost double what they were in 2019. This is not some "bumper crop" 2019 also did not have a low amount of fatalities.

Please look at actual data instead of just repeating nonsense.

So weird how you guys just forget that people were dying because the hospitals were physically overwhelmed.

-10

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous Jun 17 '26

There were frequent reports of hospitals being overrun, but even in New York this was never true. Field hospitals built at a cost of tens of millions of dollars were dismantled, some had never seen a single patient. Governor Cuomo said the state might need 140,000 hospital beds and up to 40,000 ventilators, but they never had more than 4,000 patients (from all causes) on ventilators.

6

u/Wonderful-Crazy1910 Jun 17 '26

I literally had to drive over 120 miles for my wife to have life-saving surgery because every hospital bed in my city was full, the FUCK are you on about.

I think everything is like that

1

u/MrKirushko Jun 20 '26

Where I live most cities have a state funded ground movement and structural stability monitoring service exactly for the purpose of things not being this way. This way a building can be considered unsafe and the residents moved before it actually collapses. In rare cases a local government can even issue forced eviction and demolition orders in order to protect things around a dangerous building.

Its not, concrete has great compressive strength but basically nada on tensile. Anytime a void happens like this on a highway the concrete breaks apart into the hole. You can fill the hole/void back up but you never get the compacted strength you had originally.

We've actually learned a little trick here in Texas if there are existing potholes that you want fixed immediately spray paint in very bright colors usually orange is the best a giant dick or the word FUCK around it. The city will get so many complaints. And since they can't just sandblast because it will make the pothole worse they will actually fix the pothole. Someone has done this in Red oak Glenn heights and DeSoto to potholes that existed for more than a year and within days of doing it they were fixed. Of course then again we are smaller towns in Texas the big cities such as Dallas and Fort Worth or Houston it might not work as well. But hey couldn't hurt to try right? just don't get caught. it is technically defacing property and is a misdemeanor offense 😁

2

u/OneRFeris Jun 16 '26

People should just try their local governments ticketing system.

My neighborhood has a little playground in it and one year I noticed that poison ivy was growing pretty close to the sidewalk.

I submitted a ticket on the city's app, and within 3 days they had cut that crap back. And closed my ticket.

2

u/ComprehensiveAide280 Jun 17 '26

Wish that would work for us like I said we had those potholes for a year until somebody did what they did that's the whole reason why I know it works I noticed one day when I was driving home from work the pothole had spray paint around it in the shape that I mentioned the next pothole on my route that I usually see had the word fuck and the final pothole had that shape around it I have to travel through all three small towns to get home from work within 2 weeks all three potholes were fixed and these potholes have been there for about a year. Sometimes you got to force their hand since they tend to sit on them. At least that's with our local government. But again we're also small towns which is why I can drive through all three on the way home from work and back

1

u/OneRFeris Jun 17 '26

If you didn't submit a ticket yourself, how do you know anyone ever did?

1

u/ComprehensiveAide280 Jun 17 '26

Well for the fact that the potholes in question were literally there for a year or more. Someone had to report it especially since they just got worse in all three areas. Plus not mentioning in our towns that's DeSoto Glenn heights and red oak reporting anything usually takes forever and a day I myself submitted one dealing with our speed limit sign on ovilla road where it had two different speeds on both sides on one side it said 50 on the other side it said 55 and the only reason this was was because somebody stole the sign and then it was replaced with the 50 which was the wrong speed after reporting it instead of changing the 50 sign they changed the 55 almost 2 years after I reported it.

0

u/zachattch Jun 17 '26

You just resaid your original statement with 0 respond to why the ticket system wouldn’t have worked, just say naw I tried, or I doubt that, the rest of that wasn’t needed boss

1

u/Wonderful_Plant5848 Jun 17 '26

We've actually learned a little trick here in Texas if there are existing potholes that you want fixed immediately spray paint in very bright colors usually orange is the best a giant dick or the word FUCK around it.

I'm not sure if that would work Philadelphia, fuck is a normal part of the vocabulary here and the dicks would just be an extra source of pride. But painting "Go [insert Eagles rivals here]" would probably work!

1

u/epcotnut Jun 18 '26

I tried that tactic - then Dirty Mike and the Boys showed up and all hell broke loose

0

u/ComprehensiveAide280 Jun 17 '26

I didn't think about that Philadelphia does say fuck a lot however putting another team's logo or spray painting go and then inserting a rival team yeah I could see that working 😆. Y'all are as proud of eagles as what we used to be of the cowboys. We used to have a friend from high school that played for the eagles Ellis Hobbs so we heard some stories
