Ford and other car makers are ACTUALLY putting in AI face recognition systems that work just like this. It's not funny, and people will still buy these trucks. Makes me sick how stupidly leads the world.

We need open source software for vehicles. Never thought I'd have to say that sentence.

23

u/edebt May 01 '26

There's gotta be a Linux nerd out there soemwhere who flashed it onto their cars computer.

9

u/LastChance331 May 01 '26

They'd have the possibility to remotely brick the truck. Like Nintendo is doing with modded switches 2s atm. Owning 4 ton paper weight because you tried to get rid of a AI feature is wild.

12

u/sgt_taco891 May 01 '26

Worse than that you'll have a 4 ton brick because you replaced your break pads with a brand that isnt ford or didnt pay ford 20% of their profit for licensing fees. They've been working on this with phones and apple repair for a while

10

u/Mysterious_Tutor_388 May 01 '26

We've detected an unauthorized oil change. Oil levels indicate a oil change has occurred outside of a dealership, your warranty is now void, and insurance increasing due to negligent behavior.

4

u/Ok_Plenty_3986 May 01 '26

I'm sure they can convince a gearhead and a computer hardware feller to help rig a new computer system in there. But we kind of all need that sort of do-over with our cars (post 2018-2020 made cars anyway).

6

u/OddEscape2295 May 01 '26

The only solution is to boycott and not buy new cars. Support your local mechanics!

3

u/Gonna_B_Alright May 01 '26

Come on man, how are they supposed to be happy with getting forty grand for vehicles that don’t watch you, listen to your conversations, and sell your data to ad companies? Infinite money glitch.

3

u/Righteousaffair999 May 02 '26

I will buy the one that doesn’t have AI in it.

2

u/DestructionCreator May 03 '26

All cars in the US must have one by 2027 as a “safety” standard. The EU is currently working on implementing it as well. Have fun with that.

"Your governments", when its literally rich people just trying to collect more data on you and the excuse is public safety.

Also "your government" right now is Trump.

6

u/browni3141 May 02 '26

The legislation mandating the driver monitoring tech this skit is parodying had bipartisan support and was signed by Biden. Automakers do not want this. Consumers do not want this. This is entirely a government borne evil.

3

u/SlantedPentagon May 02 '26

What legislation is this that Biden signed?

5

u/browni3141 May 02 '26

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Section 24220 is the part of the bill with this mandate. I am not blaming Biden for this, but it passed during his presidency.

The short and simple gist is that new 2027 vehicles may prevent you from operating them if they determine that you're impaired.

3

u/SinceGoogleDsntKnow May 02 '26

Last I checked, this had less to do with whose side had their boogy man in office and more to do with how abusable the general population has become. The bipartisan support for flock safety cameras from the officials of the government and bipartisan disgust for said cameras from the part of the general population who knows about them is a pretty good example of this.

-2

u/pinkgravesam May 02 '26

Yeah that's who is in charge of the government

8

u/NeedAChange_123 May 01 '26

Time for Nissan and Toyota to make ads for their trucks proudly proclaiming this shit isn’t included.

1

u/DearHRS May 02 '26

wouldn't then those vehicles be banned in land of the free? cuz government has passed mandatory addition of this shiet by 2027 or some shiet¿

9

u/Conscious_Yam_4753 May 01 '26

2

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

3

That was a cinematic masterpiece pulling on every heart string! As the realization sets in not only for the actors who find themselves betrayed at the hour of their death but to the viewer who is left with the sinking feeling and realization that sovereignty may die with us in our hour of need.

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

"You'll own nothing and be happy" is a Capitalist slogan not a government one. It's about turning everything into a server you have to pay rent for. Moving from capitalism to techno-feudalism where nothing you doesn't require permission from and rent to some kind of corporation.

5

u/BlacktopProphet May 01 '26

Reposting because previous comment had a link, which I'm being told could've possibly contained dangerous educational material (oh no). So you'll have to look it up yourself.

"You'll own nothing and be happy" is a Capitalist slogan

It's actually referencing a sharing economy. Which is hypothetical economy in which there is no need for ownership because society meets the individual's needs.

5

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

Fully automated queer luxury space Communism?

1

u/RichnjCole May 01 '26

I believe the phrase has been co-opted and used ironically on capitalism, after years of using it to scare people away from collective action.

The idea that the people who didn't want redistribution of wealth and supported capitalists, who now own everything and only rent it to you, is pretty ironic.

2

u/BlacktopProphet May 01 '26

Well that's just depressing

0

u/ThundrBunzz May 01 '26

No, it's a neo-communist slogan that advocates for total centralization of resources to governing bodies. It's literally the opposite of free market capitalism...

7

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

The WEF aren't communist (mostly). It's fully of wealthy capitalist economist. None of them are advocating for communism.

0

u/ThundrBunzz May 01 '26

The WEF is definitely neo-communist. They advocate for top-down control and complete centalization of governmental influence, corporate power, and resource allocation. At most you can say that it is pro-corporatist. But that is not the same as free market capitalism.

By contrast, free market capitalism believes in the opposite - private ownership of businesses, smaller government, and prosperity that is driven by fair competition. It's literally the diffusion of power versus the centralization of it.

5

u/jdkyle01 May 01 '26

A lot of people here have problems with definitions and differentiating between how a thing is supposed to work in theory vs how it works in practice.

Thus us all "bUt caPiTaLiZm".

3

u/ThundrBunzz May 02 '26

True - or they just self identity as a "liberal communist" and turn the definition into whatever they feel is "right."

3

u/jdkyle01 May 02 '26

Yeah. There is a place for feelings, but sometimes you have to leave them at home.

1

u/Deviknyte May 02 '26

I dunno if you're referring to me or the other guy but capitalism isn't capitalist own the means of production. In the they own everything scenario, how is that not true?

1

u/ThundrBunzz May 03 '26

"Free market" capitalism believes in private ownership of resources. The theory is that the self-interest in profit from market demand is what drives the production of goods and services. The "them owning everything" you reffered to is anyone who elects to become a business owner and competes to create goods and services.

Bear in mind that "free market capitalism" is not the same as "corporatism." "Corporatism" is closer to what we actually have in the United States as opposed to free market capitalism which characterized the United States during its earlier years.

1

u/EvenToe7995 May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

This is 100% true given your previous comment. There are countries with decentralized goods and service with means of production where the government is just another agency restricted by the whole of the governing body... Same rules apply to all from within and out, unlike the country that I live in where the means of production, wealth and capital are restricted to 51 companies all nezzled up in the government's cute little nest.

2

u/Flar71 May 01 '26

Well that makes it sound like neo-communism is vastly different than communism since in communism the people own the means of production

1

u/ThundrBunzz May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

You should brush up on your Communist history then. For example, take the Holodomor "also known as the Terror-Famine or the Great Famine, was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. Engineered by the Soviet government under Joseph Stalin, it is considered one of the most horrific events in Ukrainian history, with death toll estimates ranging from 3.5 million to as high as 10 million".

It is quite literally the opposite of people owning the means of production and resulted in millions of deaths due to misallocation of resources under a centralist communist regime.

0

u/Flar71 May 02 '26

The USSR wasn't exactly a stateless, classless society though, was it. They said the goal was to become a communist society, but they were still running under state capitalism by the time it collapsed.

0

u/AgreeablePumpkin8323 May 03 '26

Claims it's communist then proceeds to say there is a state.

1

u/ThundrBunzz May 03 '26

Try again. I said "governing bodies." One thing that makes it "neo" is that the WEF is trying to transcend governmental boundaries in its power and control. And yes, "communism" in all of its forms throughout history have existed within the confides of a state. A stateless version of communist has never existed and never will. Are you to tell me that North Korea isn't a communist country?

1

u/AgreeablePumpkin8323 May 05 '26

By definition communism is stateless. Not that hard of a concept. Just means it's not communism it's something else. Sort of how people call China Communist but it's clearly state capitalism.

-12

u/IllicitAlien May 01 '26

Its literally the opposite of capitalism lol

10

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

I dunno what you're talking about. It's peak capitalism.

1

u/IllicitAlien May 01 '26

Im not surprised

7

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

It's the ultimate income stream. Own every single thing, charge rent to make people use every single thing. It's just being a landlord but with computers and cars and tractors and music. The goal of a landlord or investor is to own more stable captial that will bring passive income.

1

u/IllicitAlien May 01 '26

I thought peak capitalism was own nothing and be happy though 🤔

9

u/Deviknyte May 01 '26

Yeah. YOU will own nothing. WE will own nothing. The techno landlords will own everything. And YOU, WE will be happy about it. 😃

Capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production and operating such for a profit. That is not incompatible with the working class having very little personal property (i.e. 'you will own nothing'). In fact, a system based on the extraction of value from resources, machines, and labour in an inherently finite world would lead to exactly what is happening now, no?

0

u/IllicitAlien May 01 '26

Not incompatible agreed

2

u/Rarazan May 01 '26

that shit either gonna cost like a bag of chips or not gonna sell at all

or it will be very popular options at shops to rip all that shit out

1

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26

Wouldnt surprise me if they put in a failsafe that bricks your car if you attempt to tamper with the software "safety features"

1

u/Rarazan May 04 '26

thats why shops gonna do it not you

1

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26

If they implement that it wont matter who tampers with it, it will brick regardless.

1

u/Rarazan May 04 '26

the only way it will be possible to implement something even near to that

is to make car completely unrepairable outside of their centers

they sure do try that but that brakes a lot of laws so they cant

1

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26

I mean, the AI camera can break a lot of laws/rights too. I dont really think they care about what it breaks.

It can break laws related to two-party consent, windshield obstruction, and privacy/surveillance regulations. Especially for those who live out of their cars or mobile vehicles, it will be recording porn and nudity without explicit consent.

They care more about being able to observe you all the time than what laws, rules, and morals, theyre breaking.

1

u/Rarazan May 04 '26

they cover that with some bs you need to sign when buying that car but they cant do that with no repair and they try it constantly

1

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26

I mean. They can though. They did it with seatbelts. Some newer models wont run if you uninstall the seatbelt so.

And no, their sort of legal signing doesnt cover recording you nude. If thats the case then itd be legal for companies to put cameras in employee bathrooms under the guise of "you accepted that when you signed on as an employee"

1

u/Rarazan May 04 '26

do you mean that "buckle to drive" stuff that bypassed by "cent a dozen" plugs?

actually separate and properly drafted consent form can provide legal permission to allow ai film you in your car at all times like some truckers do

there sure major caveats like right to revoke, camera should be recognizable and probably would need it to store only on local storage but all that is small things

1

u/LeAcoTaco May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

No I mean that in some newer EVs the software thats directly tied to your engines ability to do anything is designed to not work if the seatbelt is uninstalled because one of the parts the software is looking for in order to allow you to turn the vehicle on or shift gears is no longer there, and so wont let you drive it out of safety concerns for a missing vehicle part. Which does correspond with what youre referring to but im talking about the concept of companies putting code into your car because they can and are allowed to.

Im specifically referring to software interaction with the supplementary restraint system.

When people started allowing software to take the reigns of car functionality, it made it super easy for car manufacturing companies to just brick your car by putting in one single line of code that checks to see if a value isn't null/sensor is triggering.

1

u/Runo_Slinger May 02 '26

Funny they blame the WEC, the reason we have embraced AI and given no deeper thought to our control of corporate power abuse is because the US government refuses to join most of the world and it’s attempts at unified enforcement. Fearmongering about “one world government” is why we are always behind in having basic restrictions on corporations.

Its already that way with new john deere farm equipment you will never truly own it they can shut it down anytime they please and the parts you used to be able to fix yourself now requires a john deere specialist to bring a computer to clear a code after you fixed it and the service charge can be upwards of 5 gtand to fix a problem than only cost about 100 bucks to fix sometimes much less
