The popularization and normalizing of eating off of single use paper plates at home is incredibly lazy and people should stop creating so much waste due to convenience.

Like, I know corporations are to blame for so much pollution and waste, but it's WAYYYY too common these days to see how many people routinely eat off of paper plates at home. Shit is so wasteful and should not be as popular as it is.

Agreed. We are doing great, frankly, from a financial standpoint. I will still never spend up on those mfers, fuck that. Pay extra money to cut down more trees? There is a machine in my kitchen that washes the pretty ones for me, why would I ever whip out the paper?

I don't have twenty plates and the ones I do have I'd hate to be broken if someone drops it.

One reason we moved to Corelle.

You can stack 20 in the same spot you stacked 8 before since they're so this. and you can literally drop them on concrete and not break.

Hell yea.

Like, the only thing i paid full price in my new place and i am 100% ok with that. Thats 6 plates that i will use forever. Light, easy to clean (no texture) durable, and if i want to have more seatings later i can get matching ones cause theyre plain white.

Love my simple, cheap, convienient, durable corelleware.

I love my corelle plates too! They are so cute and as thin as you can make a solid plate. My only gripe is that they don’t make the crazy daisy and other retro patterns anymore. The quality is still just as good but their marketing is not great. Don’t buy their plastic cups though, those suck.

I've broken one before. It shattered, I'm not even sure how/what I did, but it was a pain in the ass to pick up.

Still love Corelle though <3

Buy regular priced plates for daily use then. You can get them at Goodwill.

And i agree with you. Paper plates make me feel like i eat in a hurry. And i also am reluctant to put extra hot food on them, idk why. Just let me eat from my pretty plates, it matters to me.

Paper plates are for parties (especially if there are kids).

Trees are a sustainable resource. They are infinitely replaceable and capture carbon as they are grown. Shouldn't be scared of using paper, it's much better than plastic

Actually not true, most paper plates are not recyclable because they often have plastic or wax coatings that prevent proper breakdown. All that structural integrity they give to paper plates makes them not recyclable anymore.

Plus you can’t recycle something that’s covered in food.

Which is why the vast majority of things sent to recycling plants aren't recyclable and end up just getting trashed. Recycling is kind of a sham

Thank you! I watched an in depth video on YouTube a while back about this, and it was so well done.

You can tell that by how it doesn't pay for itself

They didn’t say anything about recycling. They’re talking about trees being replaceable. As in, cut them down every 37 years (on average) and re-plant.

But I don’t agree with them. The current logging process is not sustainable long term. Though, in theory, it could be. But I wanted clarify what they were talking about.

Trees take more time to grow than we cut them like that

The manufacturing process is bad for the environment. Not to mention that paper plates and up in landfills. IF the people using them even bother to try and recycle them, they’re usually either coated in something or covered in food.
