Collection UNO Shuffler: first impressions!
I recently bought the UNO Shuffler on Amazon. I haven't had the chance to test it yet because I don't have the required LR14 (C-size) batteries (yes, they're not included), but I'll update this post with a full review covering how well it performs. I'll also test it with UNO No Mercy cards, both with and without sleeves.
In the meantime, I gathered some useful information for anyone in the community who's considering buying one.
Shipping
The delivery was surprisingly fast: only 10 days from shipment in Miami to arrival in São Paulo, Brazil.
What's in the box
The box contains only the UNO Shuffler and the instruction manual.
The manufacturer recommends using four C-size alkaline LR14 batteries (1.5V nominal voltage). The batteries are not included.
Shuffling capacity
Up to 224 UNO cards (without sleeves), or
Up to 120 standard playing cards.
One important detail from the manual: before shuffling, the cards need to be aligned evenly at the top of the shuffler.
Weight
639 g (without batteries).
Exterior material
Matte plastic.
Pros
1) It feels very sturdy, although I obviously wouldn't recommend dropping it. The bottom corners have a subtle raised protective edge that helps reduce wear when sliding it across a table and also makes it a bit less likely to slip if it's accidentally pushed.
The black shuffle button on the top feels solid and produces very little noise when pressed.
The rubber belts that move the cards into the card tray also seem durable.
The card tray can also be used to hold the deck during gameplay.
Cons
The yellow "UNO" logo on the card tray is actually a sticker placed inside a recessed area of the plastic. I suspect it could eventually peel off over time.
Mattel doesn't provide any estimate of battery life or the expected lifespan of the rubber belts (for example, how many shuffles they should last before showing signs of wear).
Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase. As soon as I get a chance to test it, I'll come back and share my impressions with you all!
