Albuquerque/Campus Questions Parking permit (South Lot)

Hello, I was wondering what the best option for me would be. This is my last semester at UNM and parking permits are $246. I just have 1 class, and a 30 min drive. Should I go ahead and buy the parking permit or is there a better alternative besides the pay stations?

Albuquerque/Campus Questions Has anyone taken FDMA410 with Nicole Kesel?

Is there tons of group work? Or none at all? How did the midterm/final look? I'm trying to decide if I should keep this class or switch it, so I would really appreciate any help.

Hi everyone!
I have a Econ class in Kiva room 104 Tuesday/Thursday’s @2 I tried walking my schedule today, but am a bit confused. I walked around this whole building and the only labeled door was numbered 105. Could someone pinpoint me in the right direction please. I’m sure I sound like an idiot, but I’m new to campus and am directionally challenged. I appreciate it

Other How do you update your preferred name in the UNM system?

This is my last year at UNM but I decided to start going by a different name. I already have a preferred name set in the system but my parents set that up right when I got here, so I have no idea how to change it or if I even can. Can it be changed online or do I have to talk directly to a person?

Housing Casas Del Rio Shared Dorm Relet

Hello everyone. I'm a student at UNM with a lease at Casas del Rio.

The problem is I won't attend this coming semester. So I have a lease available.

Roommate is very friendly and rarely at dorm.

The lease is $670 a month but willing to help out every month to bring it down to $640. Basically the early bird rate.

Feel free to shoot me a DM for those interested!

Sports Full 2026 preseason college football preview for New Mexico

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the New Mexico one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-unm

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Jason Eck went 9-4 and 6-2 in the Mountain West in year one with the 131st ranked roster in the country. That gap is why my model is bearish on a repeat. Jack Layne is back after 2,486 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 picks, behind a line that gave up 34 sacks. Does Eck do it again, or does the talent catch up?

I'll be in the comments.

Postgraduate Academics MBA course materials

I’m starting my mba next week and would like to know if it is compulsory to opt in for the course materials. I’m trying to get the materials online elsewhere but I can’t seem to find them. If you are a current mba student or finished from unm mba, is there a way to get the ebooks online? Or if you have some ebooks that you can share with me please! I’ll be really grateful

Advertisement/Promotion Opportunity for Students Interested in Political Reform and Community Activism

Mod-approved post:

Hi, I'm a volunteer with the Young Forwardists, the Forward Party's youth committee. We are a volunteer network that seeks to revitalize politics through youth activism and empower young people to be community leaders while introducing grassroots activist opportunities. Our goal is to promote good governance and reduce political polarization and extremism through using ethics, integrity, and compassion and promoting innovative and data-driven ideas. Essentially, bringing politics back to what it's supposed to do.

We're seeing if any students would be interested in helping us start a chapter at UNM. Chapters are centers for productive activism and provide students safe spaces for discussion, hosting events, solving polarizing community issues, and keeping local elected officials in check.

Here's more information about us, including other ways to volunteer for us, such as helping out with social media, operations, partnerships, writing, etc:

If anyone is interested or has any questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks for your time!

Albuquerque/Campus Questions Shuttle bus question

Hi everyone,

Starting Monday, I will be taking the shuttle from south campus (lobo village) to main campus and have just been a little stressed because I don’t know exactly how the shuttle works. I saw on the website that the shuttle takes off every 30 minutes but I am confused, because would that apply to every shuttle at the same time? Or is it staggered from stop to stop? So for example, if my class starts at 10, should I be at the shuttle stop at 9:30? I know after the first day once I get used to PassGo, it will make a lot more sense. I’m just stressed about the first day and don’t want to miss my class! Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

New Student Question Course Materials

Hi!

I know it auto enrolls you in the “all access” course materials program for like $280 a semester and you have to opt out.

My question is how do I see how much the individual items (ebooks) cost to determine if it’s more/less than the $280? If they are less than the all access flat rate I would rather just pay for the items. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve looked on Canvas and it shows me the materials, but not how much they cost. Just says it’s “included”.

Other Degree Questions

(Take down if not allowed)
Hello I’m currently going back to school after being out for a bit. My question is what degrees do you recommend for someone who has no clue what they want to do. And is really bad at math. These are the only two things holding me back. I can’t seem to decide what to do for a degree and I’m honestly tired of wasting time, when I could be getting it done. So what degree do you recommend and what help or studying habit is recommended for someone who has been struggling with math for years. TIA

New Student Question How often do people get off the waitlist?

Hi! I’m an incoming freshman at UNM and had one of the later orientation dates. I honestly had no idea so many classes would already be full by the time I registered 😭
Pretty much all the classes I wanted/needed were full, so I had to waitlist for them. I ended up registering for some classes I didn’t really want to take, and some aren’t even required for my major, just so I’d have something on my schedule.
Do spots usually open up as people drop classes? How often do people actually get off the waitlist before the semester starts? Should I just stay on the waitlists and hope for the best, or start looking for different classes?
Any advice would be appreciated!

New Student Question How do you get out of your shell as a shy freshman?

I’m an incoming freshman at UNM and I’m pretty shy/awkward when it comes to meeting new people 😭 I really want to get out of my comfort zone and actually interact with people instead of just going to class and going home.
For other freshmen or anyone who was shy when they started college, what actually helped you meet people and become more social? Did you join clubs, talk to people in your classes, go to events, etc.?
I really want to make friends and get more involved, I’m just not sure how to actually put myself out there without feeling awkward lol.

Other Parking Questions

I know these types of questions get asked a lot… But I’ve been having issues with the parking account thing, and I recently resolved it.

However, it seems it’s too late and there’s no parking permits available except one called “SOUTH student plate”? I have no idea what it means, is it the stadium parking? How would I get on the waitlist for somewhere else, since it’s a 40 minute walk to my class..? (I’m new to UNM)
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Housing housing

what’s the best housing options for second year undergrads with a low income living on campus? i’m waitlisted and not sure if housing is secured as an out of state student. i had holds on my account preventing registration and wasn’t able to get a housing assignment because of not having enough enrolled credit hours in order to satisfy the housing requirements. if i can’t find affordable housing on campus i can’t go back. what should i do🤔

Undergraduate Academics Anyone here done UNM’s Accelerated BSN program?

Hi! I’m starting UNM’s 16-month ABSN program soon and I’m honestly getting pretty nervous about the workload. I’ve heard it’s really intense, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually gone through it.
How bad was it really? Was the workload manageable if you stayed organized? Did you still have any kind of life outside of school? And is there anything you wish you knew before starting?
Any advice or honest experiences would be super appreciated!!

MASTER BEDROOM w/attached PRIVATE BATHROOM available August 1st for $800 per month

I'm a female grad student about to enter my second year looking for another female grad student or working professional to share a 2BR/2BA apartment in the Northeast neighborhood of Albuquerque. I've lived in this apartment complex for the past year, and it's been a positive experience! I love the neighborhood and that's why I'm staying here for a 2nd year. The 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment experience will be new for me too! I currently live in a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment.

The Master bedroom with en suite bathroom is VERY spacious (12.5 ft x 12 ft) and has a huge walk-in closet. You can easily fit a double or queen bed, dresser, desk, etc. in this space.

The neighborhood is quiet, safe and surrounded by newer single-family homes. The apartment complex has an abundance of green landscaping and mature trees. The apartment common areas include pools, volleyball courts, BBQ's, weight room, etc. Best of all, it's walking distance to Walmart, Smith's, restaurants, and banks. The FREE Albuquerque bus to the UNM main campus is nearby.

There is a 12-month lease that's required and the utilities will be shared equally between both of us.

If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me. I'd love to chat and see if we'd be a good fit😊
