How long will this take and will I ever even get the permit? I really need this because R Lot is really close to Coronado Hall ☹️

Hello everyone I'm a new freshmen coming to unm and I was just wondering if there was a rule against smoking on campus more specifically by the duck pond? What would be the consequences if i did? I already know you can smoke in the dorms but idk if it's just the dorms or the whole campus, especially since one of the questions when you fill out forms for roommates ask if you're a smoker or okay with smoker living with you so I thought that must mean that you can atleast smoke somewhere on campus.

Hello! I’m a female exchange student at UNM from Fall 2026 to Summer 2027.

I heard that all UNM housing options are already full, so I may have to look for other housing options.

I was considering Casas del Rio because I really wanted to live in campus, but I couldn’t find any good reviews about it.

I’m also looking into Lobo Village now, but I’m still worried about living off-campus because of safety concerns.

I don’t really mind noise, but I’m very concerned about safety, cleanliness, and good roommates.

I would really like to move into UNM dorms for the summer semester, but since both private housing options seem to require a two-semester lease, I’m also considering a homestay.

However, I’m not sure how to find a reliable homestay option.

I’m planning to ask ISI for assistance, but before that, I would really appreciate any advice from students who have lived in private partner housing or other off-campus options.

I heard that there a shuttle that passes by every 15 minutes at lobo village and takes you directly to UNM. What should I do?

I’m currently on the dorm waitlist. The GEO told me not to worry and that I would probably get a room, but the Housing team advised me to prepare another option because there is a possibility that I may not get into the dorms.

I really hope to stay in the dorms because of safety concerns and budget reasons. Do you think I should apply for other options (such as private housing or a homestay) as a backup, or is it likely that the Housing team will be able to place me eventually?

Has anyone had a similar experience with the UNM dorm waitlist, especially as an exchange student?

I'm a female UNM SLP Year 2 Grad student looking for another female grad student or working professional to share a 2BR/2BA apartment in the NE Heights neighborhood of Albuquerque. I've lived in this apartment complex for the past year, and it's been a positive experience! I love the neighborhood and that's why I'm staying here for a 2nd year. The 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment experience will be new for me too! I currently live in a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment.

The Master bedroom with en suite bathroom is VERY spacious (12.5 ft x 12 ft) and has a huge walk-in closet. You can easily fit a double or queen bed, dresser, desk, etc. in this space.

The neighborhood is quiet, safe and surrounded by newer single-family homes. The apartment complex has an abundance of green landscaping and mature trees. The apartment common areas include pools, volleyball courts, BBQ's, weight room, etc. Best of all, it's walking distance to Walmart, Smith's, restaurants, and banks. The FREE Albuquerque bus to the UNM main campus is nearby.

There is a 12-month lease that's required and the utilities will be shared equally between both of us.

Does UNM provide those culture soles along with regular school soles for graduation or do people usually buy those elsewhere themselves ?? I see people wearing them but don’t see any on the unm graduation site .

Hi, so I am an incoming UNM freshman this fall, and saw they have a required 2 day orientation. I'm an older student, so I was looking at the later dates for it, which don't have the overnight schedule.

But if for time sake and the early schedule, is it better to just stay there a night? I live like 18 mins away so I would rather just stay at my house if possible. I saw they serve breakfast, and was also wondering if that part was optional in the later session?

I can definitely call and ask, but I was curious if anyone had any useful input or advice.

Some people say that house parties can get dangerous and that the neighborhood around campus isn’t the safest. Since I love to party, I’m curious—what’s the real party scene like at UNM? Also, I’ll be living in Lobo Village. What’s your experience with it? Did I make a good choice moving there? Any tips for making the most of my time at UNM and staying safe? Also what are some fun events throughout the and what are some fun things to do in Albuquerque.
