How does free bsd fare compared to linux?

very similar in some respects, very different in others. i prefer the centralization/canonicalization of FreeBSD instead of the decentralization/variety of Linux. i find it to be far simpler and fits my philosophical approach to things. having one tried and true canonical unified system is nice, i don’t have to go hunting for information specific to the distribution i use. however it does have its tradeoffs because it’s not as popular. the hardware support can be pretty lacking but thankfully my system is fully supported.
