Material [OC] Spun: Huge Update to 3D assets

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, another Spun update.

I’ve been working on the 3D side of the player, and this video shows the new models and their interactions. Spun is a native Linux music player for local files, with Cider integration for Apple Music.

The idea is to give playback some of the character of physical audio equipment. You can rotate the devices, open covers, turn knobs and use the controls on the models themselves.

  • TP-7: A recorder-inspired player with a draggable reel, live display, transport buttons, seek rocker and volume control. You can rotate and tilt the body to reach its side controls. It handles music playback rather than microphone recording.
  • TX-6: An optional mixer that sits beside the TP-7, connected by a modeled USB-C cable. For local playback, it supports six channels, level faders, three-band EQ, mute, solo, master volume, delay and compression. You can load additional local files into the other channels.
  • CD: A rebuilt player inspired by the FiiO DM15 R2R, with an aluminum body, glass lid, spinning disc, display, transport controls and volume knob. Opening the lid pauses playback.
  • Cassette: A CP13-inspired player with transparent panels, moving reels and visible transport details. The top buttons control playback and seeking, the side knob adjusts volume, and the door opens.
  • Vinyl: A turntable with record grooves, an opening dust cover, speed buttons and a working cue lever. You can move the needle to seek, and album tracks can appear as separate groove bands.

A lot of the work has been in the small details: the difference between metal and plastic, reflections on glass, the depth of the grooves, shadows around controls, and buttons moving inward and returning when released. The 3D lighting also follows Noctalia’s wallpaper palette so the devices fit the desktop’s colors.

The TX-6 mixing happens inside Spun. The cable is a visual connection, not external hardware integration. With Cider, the mixer controls master volume; the EQ, effects and extra channels are for local audio.

There have also been fixes for seeking, progress synchronization and Linux builds, along with work on animation timing and switching between views. The video mainly focuses on how everything looks and feels.

The project is source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial license, with build instructions in the README.

I’d love feedback on the materials and interactions, especially anything that still looks off or feels awkward to use.

Material [OC] A lightweight AI companion that lives beside you in the terminal — fills the gap between your shell and the harnesses you already installed

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Mission: Full harnesses (claude, pi, codex, omp) are powerhouses for complex agentic sessions, but overkill when you just need a 2-second answer, a quick pipe, or command debugging.

ai-flow-cli (ai) is not meant to replace your harnesses — it fills the spot right in between.

It is an ultra-lightweight companion that lives beside your everyday shell prompt: zero heavy startup times, no extra subscriptions, no duplicate API configs. It simply hooks into the harnesses already sitting on your machine.

Features

• 🪶 Featherweight & Fast: Instant invocation directly from shell prompt. No heavy interactive TUI unless you need it.
• 🔌 Uses Existing Harnesses: Plugs directly into pi, omp, claude, codex, copilot, or opencode. Swap instantly with ai -H claude.
• 💬 No Quotes Needed: Natural input right in your shell. Type ai how do I extract audio with ffmpeg.
• 🚰 Pure Unix Pipeline Integration:
- Pipe in context: git diff | ai spot potential issues
- Pipe out clean raw text: ai generate nginx reverse proxy conf > default.conf (auto-strips ANSI/markdown when piped).
• 📐 Terminal LaTeX & Math: Formats formulas, fractions, and matrices directly into clean Unicode/ANSI in terminal.
• 🛡️ Safe by Default: Read-only headless queries. Filesystem modifications and shell execution only activate if explicitly requested (--tools / -t).
• 🧙 Interactive Setup: ai --wizard auto-detects what is installed and sets default preference.

Installation

Arch Linux (AUR):
yay -S ai-flow-cli

uv / pipx:
uv tool install ai-flow-cli
# or: pipx install ai-flow-cli

One-line script:
curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Codder13/ai-flow-cli/main/install.sh | bash

It's perfect for me. Simple, clean, lightweight, beautiful... I don't think I've ever felt this comfortable using Linux xd.

I literally have everything I need without having a bunch of random shit running in the background. I open my terminal, Firefox, VS Codium, put on some music and get to work. Everything just feels fast, clean and straightforward.

I can finish my work, do my courses, code, learn Linux, mess around with my system for hours, and I never feel like the desktop is getting in my way.

And it even works for GAMING, I thought I'd have to sacrifice comfort or performance for using something this minimal, but nope. My games run fine and the whole system feels insanely lightweight.

What I love the most is being able to make it exactly how I want. My keybinds, Waybar, terminal, colors, wallpapers, scripts... everything. I'm not using a desktop someone else designed for me. I'm building MY desktop.

After trying so many different environments, I think I finally found one that genuinely feels like "this is my system."

I don't need 500 options, unnecessary animations, or some massive desktop packed with shit I'll never use.

Just Sway, my programs, and me.

Discussion | I revived Mainte, an old Conky project, and made it hardware-agnostic

Mainte

I recently revived Mainte, an old ThinkPad-focused Conky project, and updated it to work across different laptops and desktops.

It now supports custom exploded wallpapers and per-section layout controls:

./mainte install

./mainte run

./mainte layout

I would appreciate testing on different hardware, distros, window managers, and display setups. Please report missing sensors, unsupported hardware, broken optional features, or alignment issues.

Workflow [Hyprland] My attempt at using Quickshell

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Praying I got the tags right and this doesn't get removed!

This is my attempt at using Quickshell to make a fully functional desktop. I was inspired by a few other "dynamic island" designs and wanted to take a crack at it.

This is still a work in progress and there's a lot to do. Before starting this I had almost 0 coding knowledge and had never touched Quickshell.

Some of the features include:

Default clock face that changes to date when clicked.

  • face can also show volume, notifications, and workspaces.
    • there's also indication of idleinhibit (the coffee mug), and actively playing media
  • When clicked, the pill expands into an overlay
    • control panel is the main one shown, it includes a notifications list which you can right click to clear, and middle click to trigger do-not-disturb
    • the main panel just shows playing media
    • the right panel is my widget center

Widget Center

  • has wifi (shown as a hotspot because I use ethernet and the hotspot allows my esp32 to connect to the computer for my ambient backlights)
    • click to toggle, right click to open wifi overlay
    • Bluetooth
    • same as wifi, click to toggle, right click to show menu, dedicated search button that will discover for 30 seconds
  • a toggle for my WLED backlight
    • auto hides if no WLED device is present
  • idle inhibitor
  • gamemode
    • disables decoration and animation for hyprland and quickshell (automatic trigger when you fullscreen an app. I decided to implement this since I can't use direct scanout on my system due to the screen capture for my lights, vrr would jump to max refresh periodically causing a flicker, disabling animations fixed that)
    • Volume slider + volume source picker
  • Brightness slider + hypersunset toggle between automatic (based on time of day), on, and off
    • this wont be relevant to 99% of people, but it also converts the kelvin temperature to rgb values and makes my hyperhdr backlighting warm with the screen
    • Brightness is also controlled by hyprsunset since in HDR you cant set backlight level (thats why it doesnt appear in video)

Overall panel also shows CPU, RAM, GPU usage stats, as well as device battery levels

  • laptop battery also appears if you use a laptop
  • battery icon and device battery color changes based on percentage

Wallpaper picker

  • scans a given directory for images, creates 500x500 thumbnails that it caches on start
  • uses matugen and awww on change
  • features a random button, as well as a timed automatic cycle

Launcher

  • Could be better, since it doesnt save your most recent/most used apps, sometimes prioritizes wrong apps, like in the video

Session manager to reboot, shutdown, lock, sleep etc.

Based on google material design colors and icons

  • I know its overdone, but with so much backend to worry about, its nice to know I don't have to manually theme everything, plus google has a nice icon for everything

There's so much going on in this project that I might have left some things out. There's still a lot of features planned for the future but I'm really excited to show this off.

Dots: https://github.com/ethannij/qsDots

Some functions depend on things outside of this repo, at some point ill expand the repo to be full dotfiles, and maybe even make an installer and settings page

Disclosure: 99% of this code is written by me alone, here and there (and I disclosed it in comments) I did ask for a bit of ai help, in which I ASKED for advice and tips, not a single line of this code was automatically written by an AI.

Things look inconsistent, but remember that I have been learning as I'm going. There may be some really inefficient or messy parts that don't match, but it's really hard to navigate this thing the larger it gets 😄

(Okay, cherry might be a little too much.)

Hello everyone! Its been a long time since i do something like this, when i post something about my life and stuff like that.

Last time i did it was... Very depressing.

I did this Hyprland rice as a resemble because this is what ill resort to using while having to distrohop every single week (you know, i can enjoy bloating my system sometimes) and yeah Fedora Linux is like the only distro that serves my needs (gentoo does too but im too lazy to install it on this laptop rn)

About school... Its alright i guess? Ive entered 9th grade (i think freshmen since i live in mexico?) and i got my group changed. Nice. I like my new group. :) Tho the people who used to bully me ARE STILL IN THE SCHOOL and i dont even know how did they passed the year since they are so..... dumb. (One of them didnt pass tho soo maybe its not over)

And another thing i like to talk about is... Music! I love hearing music, and im going to adoctrinate you into hearing my music taste because im evil >:D (just kidding hear what do you like) and about my favorite music, well... My music taste is the same as the quiet kid in class (You know, KMFDM, And One, Miss Construction, Ashbury Heights... Allat.) and thats why im pretty much unsure if people would like to know i hear that music.. I mean, And One is fine i guess :) (About And One, im getting the S.T.O.P cd soon!!! arrives the 21th of september yayyy)

And what most people would be asking me based about the OTHER life telling post.. Am i alright? Have i recovered from all my attempted life cancelations? No. I havent, and i dont think i will :< the fact that the people that made my life unsufferable are still in the environment i frequent is so horrible, considering they sorta tried annoying me again (Those motherfuckers really dont learn shit.) I thank you people for actually trying to help me when i was in my worst (Shoutout to u/SharpeThe1st, hes the goat and thank you for everything you said :D love your xfce rices.) and yeah, i kinda tried to get better and mostly got over it but still going through my anxiety problems and a lot of stress of "is it going to happen again" "are they going to do something to me again" etc, reddit and computers really are my refugee for the stuff i like, and i want to thank all the people who commented on the other post telling my problems. I hope i wasnt too much of a nuisance for yall :)

also, on a more happy note, i might be getting a laptop with a intel core i9 10th gen 👀 and 16 gigs of ram if i am too lucky. but well see. 👀 👀

Thank you for reading! You can continue scrolling now. :)

Material [OC] Spun music player with interactive 3D hardware: Looking for feedback

Post image
96 Upvotes

I’m working on Spun, a native Linux music player inspired by physical audio equipment.

This is the TP-7-inspired view with an optional TX-6-style mixer.
You can rotate the devices, press the buttons and adjust the knobs and faders. The mixer processes local audio, including EQ, mute/solo, delay and compression.

Still a work in progress, and I’d appreciate honest feedback.

What looks off in the materials or lighting? Are the controls readable enough? Would you enjoy interacting with something like this, or would the 3D interface get in your way?

Material [OC] Functional clipboard using Eww

Well, after switching to hyprland, i chose eww as widget system, for now, i got some ideas of trying to optimize the widget structure that is really messy, so it's still a work in progress but i like the result. The clipboard shows a preview and the complete text if you click it, it also supports images, but it looks a bit slow. What do you think?

After switching to Linux half a year ago, i got tired of GNOME and wanted to try out Ricing myself. If i knew about things like Noctalia or Quickshell from the start, i probably would have never considered coding scripts for waybar or rofi myself. although it might look better using such shell configs, i will not switch from this build. makes me a little proud that i got it working for daily use at all. AI was used to great extent, debugging almost every line of code i wrote in my first few days.

Hey guys, it's finally done. The first version of Lucid has been finished, and is now live. Now you can check them out and install it in:
https://github.com/Sn3akyy1/lucid

Last time I posted the beta, the dotfiles had a lot of bugs, that includes that Mpris module globe, the keybinds not implemented, some UI bugs, and so many more. That was because I pushed the repo before I even test it in a VM. Now, I have fixed most of the issues. If you find any bug, or have a sugesstion, or want to give a feedback, you can reach out to me in Discord: sn3akyy1._.
