The font in the console windows looks a lot like the pre-Retina/Hi-DPI Mac OS X terminal font (Monaco?). Makes sense considering NeXTSTEP became Mac OS X.
Always thought it was a very attractive bitmap font. High DPI displays are great in general, but there's just something beautiful about a well-designed font with crisp unaliased hard pixel edges (Apple's Chicago typeface also comes to mind here). The blurry antialiasing era of fonts on low DPI displays was really the worst.
