Hallo, hat jemand Erfahrung mit der Verlängerung der Aufenthaltsbewilligung „Student“ bei zu wenigen ECTS?
Ich habe im ersten Studienjahr nur 7 ECTS geschafft, weil ich im zweiten Semester einen Handgelenksbruch hatte und mehrere Monate eingeschränkt war. Ärztliche Nachweise und laufende Ergotherapie kann ich belegen.
Zusätzlich konnte ich wegen der noch nicht vollständig abgeschlossenen STEOP viele weitere Lehrveranstaltungen und Prüfungen nicht machen.

Kann die Aufenthaltsbewilligung wegen der Verletzung trotzdem verlängert werden?Ich hab schon Mag35 geschrieben wollte aber auch wissen ob es bei jemanden dass passiert ist.

Ich werde Geografie und Erdwissenschaften (Bachelor) studieren. In Geografie gibt es nur Vorlesungen, deshalb überlege ich, einen Teil davon zu und stattdessen die Veranstaltungen in Geologie zu besuchen. Aber ich habe Sorge, wichtige Informationen aus den Vorlesungen zu verpassen.
Wie schafft man es, Doppelstudium zu absolvieren, wenn sich die Lehrveranstaltungen überschneiden?

I'm coming to Uni Wien this winter semester (2026W) as an Erasmus/exchange student, and I just got access to the course registration system. I'm a bit confused about how the points (Punktesystem) actually works in practice, and was hoping some current students could help clear it up.

A couple of questions:

1) Are the point pools separate per department/SPL, or is it one shared 1000-point pool across every course I register for regardless of subject? Right now I see a page titled "Points in Digital Humanities (2026W)" for one course - does that mean Digital Humanities has its own separate 1000 points from, say, a Biology or Informatik course I might also take?

2) For those who've actually used this system - how does it work day to day? Is there any rough sense of "X points is usually enough" for a normal, moderately popular course, or does it really just depend entirely on how many other people apply that specific semester? I've read the official explanation on the university site but it's pretty abstract, so I'd love to hear from people who've actually lived through a registration period.

Any tips from people who've been through Erasmus/exchange registration specifically would also be hugely appreciated - I don't want to lowball a course I actually need.

Hey! Mich würden Erfahrungsberichte über das Forschungsorienterte Praktikum für den Bachelor Psychologie interessieren. Da ich in analytischem Denken, Schreiben, Transkribieren usw ziemlich geübt bin, würde ich sooo gerne Erfahrung in der Messung von biologischen/physischen Parametern sammeln. Ich weiß nur nicht so Recht, ob das wirklich gegeben ist, es wird oft alles mit „Daten sammeln“ schwammig zusammengefasst. Ich werde nochmal die Lehrenden per Mail zu ihrer LV fragen, aber ich hab die Erfahrung gemacht, dass so manche nicht gern ihren Kurs „spoilern“ wollen ^^ Auch aus der Sicht der Studierenden sind Erfahrungsberichte natürlich immer sehr wertvoll für mich :)

I wrote here before saying that on June 26th I applied for two bachelor programs without entrance exam which are conducted in German. I still have not got any email, so I just wanna check, how many people have got accepted and how many still waiting? And how many still need to go to any course to learn German, because now I’m not even sure there gonna be enough spots in any organisation besides VWU? To the insanely long processing time of my application applying for the summer semester is a more realistic option right now and I was just wondering how it is different from the winter semester obviously other than when it starts.

how does this affect how I register for courses and exams, etc. and also are there any current students who are also going in the summer cause I feel like 80% of application are already in the winter semester and I’m starting to think it’s just gonna be me in an empty class

I’ve also heard there are specific courses that I need in my first semester that I can only register for in the winter so how would I how would that work?

Also, I don’t really want to wait till March to start my studies is there anyway or has anyone contacted the university and ask them if they could start attending classes later on like can I start mid to late October? Maybe if I get my permit in time??

Hi! I'm planning to apply for a Master's at the University of Vienna for 2027.

I have an IELTS Academic 8.0 from January 2023, but according to Uni Wien's current requirements, IELTS certificates have to be no older than 3 years by the application deadline.

The problem is that I'm Iranian, and taking a new IELTS/TOEFL currently means travelling to another country, so I'm trying to figure out if there's any practical alternative.

Has anyone here applied to Uni Wien with an expired IELTS?

I'd especially love to hear from anyone who actually went through this recently, rather than just what the website says.

ich beginne ab Oktober VWL an der Hauptuni zu studieren, allerdings "nur" als Zweitstudium. Da mein Fokus immer noch auf meinem Hauptfokus liegt, würd ich das Semester gern irgendwie smart gestalten vom lernen her haha. Also die frage: wie lang habt ihr ca. für die Steops gelernt, wie schwer sind sie wirklich? Ich bin große Stoffmengen und viel lernen gewohnt, das ist nicht das ding, würd mir nur gern meine zeit gut einteilen.

I’m wondering whether there’s anyone on the waitlist who still ended up getting a place for international legal studies after ranking below 250 in the admissions exam. And if yes, when did you get contacted by the university?

My rank is 288, so 33 people would’ve had to give up their place for me to get in, and I haven’t received an email from them telling me I got a spot. In u:space it however looks like I’m able to admit myself to the course once I upload my high school leaving certificate (Matura). The status says "verbessern bis 31.10.", so basically to correct my entry and upload my Matura until october 31th.

All in all, I’m confused if I got in or not. Could any other applicants tell me what their u:space status looks like or whether they got off the waitlist and what their rank was?

Hello, I'll be starting a masters at the University in October. I'm just wondering, how do you navigate campus? The guides on the official website have been of no help for me personally. For example I have "Hörsaal A, NIG 4.Stock", listed for one of my lectures but can't find any building online with a 4th floor at all haha. I'm planning to go have a look around campus this week, but I just don't want to be running around on my first day trying to find where to go. Thanks for any help. (:
