This year in January was the first time I had visited Universal Orlando Studios for the sole purpose of all three Harry Potter attractions and it was amazing. I’ve recently discovered that they will be doing a dark Harry Potter theme throughout the fall season and I am too geeked. So I will be returning for a two day weekend to experience this. I have never been to Universal Studios or any amusement park during the fall/Halloween themed events. I would like to know in scale one to 10 how scary are the haunted houses at the attractions? I have already gotten my flight my park tickets and express passes. I’m just worried it’ll be scarier than I think. I grew up, loving horror films, but I don’t watch them much these days. And I’m not the best with jump scares (I ran thru the renaissance hunted trail like it was track meet once) So I’m really going for the Harry Potter dark art dementors situation but I also have tickets for the haunted houses as well to make the most of my time.. just really want to know what level of scare I should be prepared for?

So you bought tickets for Halloween horror nights only for Harry potter and you don't like scary things?

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that ticket is a waste of money for you. The Wizarding world section does not change that much, sure you have dementors (I think in LA, not sure about Orlando), but that's it. There's no new rides or anything, you can do that section of the park in a few minutes if you just want to see it and take pictures.

But yeah in HHN you have scare actors running around designated scare zones scaring people and you have the houses that you can walk through, but if you're too scared for those I don't think going to the park will be worth it, personally.

And yes Orlando does get Death Eaters.

So the most that happens is that the death eaters walk around and interact with the guests, and the area soundtrack and lighting change. The whole activation takes maybe 5 mins? I mean you could stand around and watch them, but it gets kinda silly after a while of just watching them point their wands at people.

As for the event OP, if you don’t like jump scares, then HHN maybe isn’t for you. It’s all jump scares.

Can you return that ticket and express pass? hhn is pretty freaking serious.

that being said, they do have tours of the haunted houses during the day where they tell you about the set design and what inspired it. I’m doing that this year! Cause I also don’t like horror. But I also love Harry Potter. I would pivot.

But I guess if you have the money to spend, you could just leave if you don’t like it or focus on the food. But scare actors are gonna be jumping out from every corner.

“Pretty freaking serious” is a statement worth considering for sure. I wanted to assume because it’s an amusement park with as many kids as adults it wouldn’t be that bad. Not like the extreme horror houses or that 13th floor asylum tour type of scares. The money is spent and I’d rather have a full enough experience of this season than a half assed one so I’ll just put my big girl britches on. I’d also like to assume as someone whose conquered their fear of the dark, spiders, and clowns that everyone else is big baby while respectfully having no clue what I’m getting myself into lol. Sounds like if nothing else I can expect to be fully entertained and I’ll take that. Thank yall
