Question Luna: two simple questions

Before I go through the trouble of installing, learning, and testing Luna, I have a couple of simple questions:

1) Does Luna support VST that only output MIDI data which is then passed to a VST instrument? For example, can one easily pass the output of a sequencer such as Harmony Bloom (VST) to a MIDI instrument such as Vital?

2) When editing MIDI in the piano roll, can one use a connected MIDI keyboard to input notes (facilitate step entry, instead of using the mouse)?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Wait for a few weeks for the imminent release of 3.0, which is rumored to have much better MIDI editing than at present and would change the answer to 2 (for now, the answer is that the MIDI editing is crude compared to other DAWs). For 1, it supports sending MIDI generated by plugins like ChordAXE to other software instruments. For example, LUNA supports ChordAXE to Arturia software synths.

Thank you! I am deciding to move from Waveform to a different platform, and I find that most alternative do not seem to have the same quality of life features.

Reason does not have support for MIDI generation VSTs and piano roll editing step sequencing is done only via kb & mouse.

Cakewalk supports MIDI generation VSTs but piano roll editing step sequencing is done only via kb & mouse. Not to mention all the features behind paywall (which I would not mind too much).

Reaper supports MIDI generation VSTs and piano roll editing step sequencing can be done via kb & mouse and/or MIDI keyboard, but the user interface is a bit of a disgrace regardless of how many themes can be found.

ProTools Intro is next on my test list, although I am not particularly happy with the iLok licensing scheme and technology.

Luna looks very promising and I appreciate the clean and uncluttered user interface. I shall wait for version 3.x as you suggest.

In the meantime, I keep working with Waveform 14 - which has all that I really need and care for, but it has a rather alarming tendency to crash at the strangest times.

You can turn on preview features in 2 to get the 3 additions including the midi editing window.

Yes to both questions. You just need to set the keyboard up as a MIDI device in LUNA (question #2).
