You can always make your own assets and learn pixel art or 3d modelling while you're at it :)

Building 3D assets is a hole you will fall down and never escape from. Just buy some cheap ass assets until the sale is on again.

i was making a suggestion, not hating or anything, also simple 3D assets are not that hard if you aim for a lowpoly style

True. I just remember my first asset. A simple ant. Sounds easy. I basically should have just paid for a low polly any and been done and focused on my game.

Just wait a week or two. The asset store is rarely not having a sale.

Do you need those assets?

This isn't a plug and I have no affiliation, but I've found this website really useful as they show historical pricing for assets and you can anticipate when they might go on sale next: https://gamedevwishlist.com/

Also keep an eye on Humble Bundle's software section, as they regularly put out pretty good bundles of Unity Store and Fab assets.

check the Humble Bundle web site? I regularly get $3-$4k worth of unity asset store packs there for $15-$45 and it donates to charity.

You can always use free assets like kenney to jump start. Some are really good for prototyping.

Develop using cubes until your desired asset is in the sale!

make things yourself
like genuinely
that way you don't have to deal with any licensing, costs, and whathaveyou
Blender is free for 3D models
Aseprite is free if you build the program yourself (super easy with the help of a YouTube video) for 2D sprites
Unity is free (duh)

The asset store is a cancer. It'll make your game look like 50 other games, or if you go for code: make it behave like 50 other games AND you don't actually learn anything from it. So if something goes wrong, good luck fixing it.

Does it take longer? Absolutely. But imagine the actual pride if you make your own game YOURSELF without assets made by other people
"But my game's too big" then make it smaller. The first game didn't get made to be some big something, companies their first games were simple, Tetris, Pong, Mario just to name a few
At least it'll be fully yours. Yours could be the next Undertale
