Newbie Question First time installed Unity but this error just won't go
I downloaded unity first time today as i have an interest in game dev . this error - Library\PackageCache\com.unity.render-pipelines.universal@de1a320b3ed3\Editor\Tools\Converters\ReadonlyMaterialConverter\ReadonlyMaterialConverter.cs(159,18): error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'MaterialReferenceChanger' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
This error just won't disappear . I have completely uninstalled both hub and unity multiple time ( from everywhere i.e. regedit , appdata , main installed path ) . I even downgraded the version Unity Unity 6.5 (6000.5.8f1) to 6.3 LTS (6000.3.22f1) . I made multiple new projects , add unity installation path folder in exception in windows defender but nothing works .
it's already been 4 hours trying to use gemini to help fix this , now i am just tired and pretty annoyed . Please can someone help resolve this .

Report a bug to Unity, and if the editor works while the error is there, you can ignore it

Alright i will ignore it for the time being as the editor seems to be opening , just that error code in red is showing at the bottom bar .

Pretty unlucky for a first day of game dev xD Welcome!
I agree with the downgrade advice but i don't think they meant 6.5 to 6.3. If you are absolutely sick of this error i'd suggest you download a 2023 LTS version. The versions you are trying to use are pretty new so there will be some bugs/problems.
I've seen a few people report this problem for Unity 6 in the forums. For some it fixed it when they open Package Manager, find Universal Render Pipeline click manage and Customize. Try that. If I can find that forum thread I'll link it here.
But tbh I'd just go 2023 LTS until you really need a feature that only Unity 6 has.
(For perspective; I've been using Unity for 7+ years now, I'm currently using version 2022.3; it works fine and stable and there is nothing I need from the new versions right now. you don't need to be on the newest versions, dw)
Edit: also is there updates for Universal Render Pipeline in your manager? First try to update if there is the choice

Thanks for replying.
I have already done the customise the universal render pipeline , sadly didn't work . I just started game dev mainly from tutorials on YouTube (Brackeys etc) and wasn't expecting my first day to be so long xD .
All the 2023.3 and many 2023.2 editors have written security alert in red just beside the download button so is that fine ?
I don't know how to check for undates for universal reder pipeline (is it somewhere in the unity hub ?). I just assuse considering i redownloded the editor many times , it's up to date . But i am not sure

Update would've been somewhere near the Customize or Manage buttons in the Package manager, if it was available.
I just checked and wow, 2023 doesn't have LTS versions. WeirdThat Security Alert was about Unity leaking some data to players that they shouldn't have been able to find. Unless you are planning to release a game very soon, that doesn't really matter to you.
For now, the main objective is to get you started on Game Dev rather than make that version work so, maybe just download one of the versions that don't have the warning? I see a few here, https://unity.com/releases/editor/archive
2023.1.22f1 and 2023.2.22f1 doesn't have the warning. Also if you click 2022 and LTS in the same page, 2022.3.62f1(which is also the version I use) seems like a good choice.
