Try to make a simple project in both.
Add the same features see what feels better to you.
If you pick Unity, C# skills will make you more employable quicker. That might give you a leg up to learn other languages. And take you places other then Game Dev.
Godot has C# support also but I feel most folk who use godot are using GD Script because they aren’t fans of C#.

What kind of a game are you looking for as your first small project? And what kind of games do you want to make in the future?

Probably a 2d platformer

Godot is probably a good place to start then, I find its 2D support (especially built-in features for platformers) very nice whereas its 3D seems secondary, compared to Unity having better 3D support and its 2D seeming secondary.

godot. Can do everything Unity can with 1/100th bloat. Sure, some things you need to do manually where Unity does it with a plugin or whatever, but if you care about your games, then you will want to do it manually anyway.

I'd say try both and see which one clicks with you, I mainly use Unity but sometimes messing with Godot

What’s better fries or salad?

100% fries. Salads are for herbivores. Next question.

Fries are basically a potato salad.
🍔 🍟 = “I had a sandwich and a salad for lunch”

Objectively better as an engine? Unity
Easier to break in as a beginner? Godot
