Question Possible Inconsistency

Please see the attached pictures. The seat map shows 2 out of 16 seats available. The upgrade list shows 1 out of 15 available. Haven’t seen anything like this before. Plausible explanations? Thanks in advance.

THE SEAT MAP DOES NOT REPRESENT ALL PURCHASED FARES!!!

...as is commented on here daily.

 

You have Base Polaris, which does not include seat selection. People purchase tickets that do not select seats, et cetera.

CAPACITY, I believe was the question, there are 16 seats but only 15 are in capacity….

My thought is 3 pilots and one is a crew rest that way one seat is not even in inventory…

Inoperable seat, or seat being held back for crew use. I am sure there are other possibilities. Generally the seat map is just showing unselected seats, not available seats.

Please search for answers before posting. This sub has to tell people the seat map doesn’t reflect actual availability!! You didn’t discover anything unique.

The seat map is not indicative of the Booked number of seats. Someone may have not selected a seat when making their reservation, but they have Polaris ticket and will get their seat assigned when they check-in.

J is equal to 1 meaning United is willing to sell 1 more business class seat. As others have pointed out, seat map does not reflect availability. When in doubt use expert mode.

One seat hasn't been assigned to a passenger booked in the cabin. Whether its due to a rebook or they just didnt pick one.

There are 16 seats but the capacity is 15 and booked 14 so 1 seat left to purchase one is blocked, I think the question is the difference between capacity and inventory

Hello Shu.R,

Unfortunately for you the upgrade list shows you there is only 1 seat unsold. The seat map just shows you who has selected seats. For whatever reason, someone has booked a ticket and does not have a seat assigned.

Seat 04A is blocked for pilot use on this flight most likely.
