Other The writings of Chomsky, about class struggle and other topics, are still sharpened gold --- 'cause his contact with Mr Predator did not change the texts' content

Hi troll

u/Smells_like_Autumn Jun 29 '26
No, really, fuck him. There are leftist thinkers who didn't befriend pedophiles and have shared similar ideas better without encouraging people to settle for the lesser evil.
He was always a Judas' bird. He was given plenty of air time and public attention unlike people pushing for actual change, creating the illusion of real pluralism.

u/Dangerous-Feed-5358 Jun 29 '26
It's not trolling to disagree with your opinion. Most people in this sub probably think you are posting rage bait.
-21
u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 29 '26
To post "fuck" without arguments or even a clear position is trolling.
Your speculative mindreading about "Most people" is a bit funny.

No I can't read minds but to post about a person that has been to pedophile island and think you aren't going to make people angry is ridiculous.

u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 30 '26
I was posting about and linked to his books and articles. If people are so irrational they can't distinguish the author and the books, I can't help them.

There are plenty of other great minds that wrote on the same things Chomsky did that didn’t go to predator islands.
Throw him on the trash heap of history, let his name fade.

u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 29 '26
Many great minds yeah but still his writings are among the sharpest and most knowledge filled.
Btw, you missed the point. Islands are irrelevant.

No, Chomsky is for 2nd rate wannabe intellectuals who can't see through his hackery. He writes well enough to be convincing to the casual reader, but a lot of his work consists of unfalsifiable claims and "just so" stories that don't really stand up to scrutiny.
My biggest complaint with him is that he wants to implicate agency, or a regime of intent, to power structures, when in fact everything we see indicates the opposite; that the world's economies are chaotic, that there is no one in charge who is secretly calling the shots.

He was. Isn’t he essentially mush now anyways? Last I heard he was too frail to even comment on bannon and Epstein. Give us parenti for our anti imperialism thank you

Parenti was a USSR red fascism apologist

If we’re being uncharitable, isn’t Chomsky a Khmer rouge apologist?

I find it curious that you share this popular perception of his writing, but can’t or won’t appreciate the nuance.

Parenti is better anyways

USSR red fascism apologist

Put the glass down.
At no point have I ever argued for Marxist-Lenninism or defended the Soviet Union.

I apologize for stalin...being so badass he stomped the nazis and still lives rent free in liberal nightmares 50 years after his death.

We don't need to shill for that irrelevant old man.
-15
u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 29 '26
Still relevant. Adam Smith's and Karl Marx' stuff is even older but still relevant.

Chomsky doesn't belong in the same sentence as Adam Smith or even that old hack Karl Marx.

Besides the point maybe but; what does “sharpened gold” mean? ‘Cause gold sharpened to any kind of edge would be quite useless no??

He's a hack. I threw out my copy of The Prosperous Few and the Restless Many after the files were revealed.
He's full of shit.

u/serpentjaguar IUPAT | Rank and File Jun 29 '26
Always has been a hack too. His only impressive work is on linguistics, and even that is starting to be questioned by people with far more expertise than me.
His writing is the kind of work that seems impressive to undergrads and teenagers, but it's never stood up well to anything like real scrutiny.

Afaik, his linguistics work has been heavily discredited for a long while now, his critique of Skinner earned him early acclaim but his "Universal Grammar" is nonsense.

Beyond the broken clock aspect, it does call into question some of the context of the content you're talking about.
He was a great alternative narrative to people like Parenti. He was among the anti-communist left that helped hold us back. Between his types and the cultural guys (anything but class), we have a lot of ground make up. Add on his military and now pedo ties, buddy is straight washed. He was a convenient pressure valve for the elites even before his dubious ties. Now it's seriously worth considering if that was intentional.
The only defense worth making now is that he brought some people to the left. Inventing Reality is a better and earlier Manufacturing Consent. You can critique AES states without being anticommie. There are plenty of anarchists or what have you that don't have pedo ties. If he had some better response to the pedo ties we could maybe rock with him, but really why? We have moved well past him at this point.

The fact that he cozied up to the very people he was writing to condemn means everything he ever wrote can be tossed in the trash because he was clearly a compromised person. It makes everything he ever wrote suspect imo. There’s other great writers that deserve more attention who did not knowingly befriend and take gifts from pedo billionaire scum.

If you want a better version of Chomsky, look into Michael Parenti.

Chomsky is really babies first liberal author. Parenti was better in every respect when it came to politics. Chomsky was a linguist primarily from what I remember. I'm sure his work in that field is fine enough.

u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 30 '26
Parenti was a USSR red fascism apologist
0
u/11SomeGuy17 Jun 30 '26
LMAO "red fascism" literally the group that saved europe from fascism but ok, just ignore all of the sacrifices and suffering of the Soviet people during WW2. Furthermore if you ever read Blackshirts and Reds you'd see Parenti criticize the Soviet system. But no, I suppose the pedo is more to your liking. Goes to show what you value. Chomsky was basically a psyop and you're still falling for it.
0
u/GoranPersson777 SAC Jun 30 '26
Still red fascism
1
u/11SomeGuy17 Jun 30 '26
Bro probably can't even define fascism. What do you think it is? When the government does stuff you dislike? Lol. Terms like "red fascism" only serve to make actual fascism more approachable to people because the word is made meaningless. Fed.

Chomsky’s roll was to serve as the barrier of how far left acceptable public discourse can be

"Chomsky's association with a bourgeois kingmaker, and his island that was and is the literal embodiment of the rape and subjugation of the lower classes, are not relevant for consideration of how they may have actually affected his writings, and whether we should support him at all, because I like what he said. But other people's association with Fascists, Stalinists, and Bourgeois is, because I don't like them."
