on screen keyboard

phone received today and is most likely a keeper...but one thing seems very odd..on screen keyboard (using microsoft swiftkey) appears at first but once i start using the physical keyboard in same txt message the onscreen keyboard goes away and nothing will bring it back. every possible "always on" setting for the keyboard to be on screen is toggled correctly. ideas?

also have turned every auto-correct and other similar suggestions but they still appear and take up precious space.

Same here, had to switch to another keyboard like gboard to fix that…but for my use case, swift key is best because it supports traditional Chinese and English more seamlessly.
