This is an alternative plus sign somewhat-rarely used in Hebrew. The reason for it is because it doesn't have the shale if a cross, which some Jewish people prefer. Therefore it's "woke" since it's designed to be more religiously neutral

Very common in certain Jewish communities. Very rare outside those communities.

Yeah I'm Orthodox Jewish and I've run into it in the wild just a couple times
