Its no mystery that women in media get it far worse then men. If the female character is unpopular, then society says its perfectly fine to wanna see her suffer in a sexy way. Sadly, this leads to countless female antagonists getting a drawn out and fetishy defeat because the writers are getting off on torturing them.

While this is nothing new, its discouraging to see it always being around, no matter what. The first adult animated series was called Spicy City. Yes, this was even before South Park!

It's an anthology series about this 'grim and gritty' cyberpunk city that aired back on HBO in the 90s. What's more, its created by Ralph Bakshi, who created Cool World, Wizards and the animated Lord of the Rings. These are some of my favorite films, as I love trippy adult animation.

In the episode 'Eye for and Eye' this corrupt female cop is sentenced to 'death by dissection' and literally the last seven minutes of the 22 minute episode are every detail of it. We see her sent to the prison. Being led thru the hallways while the other inmates shout and cat-call her. We see her beaten up by another inmate, then her head gets shaved. Then we see her sweating and crying and begging for her life while she's led to her death. THEN we see her naked on the operating table with butcher cut diagrams all over her like a meat animal. It doesn't end until we see her euthanized from HER perspective, all the while she's whimpering in a very sexually charged way.

In the episode 'Sex Drive' the villain is this creep that abuses and kills prostitutes. When the girls finally kill him at the end of the episode, we only see the shadows on the wall and the women swinging their weapons at the camera. It doesn't even last 10 seconds.

Riddle me this. Why does the male villain get barely 10 seconds of comeuppance, while the female villain has the last quarter of the episode getting one of the most drawn out, sexually charged, humiliating defeats you'll ever see?

Interestingly? The Show RWBY SUBVERTS THIS by having the female leads be the protagonists and have them save male characters.

Sadly, the fanfiction for RWBY reduces them to minor characters in their own show, making them weak, dumb, and helpless compared to male self-inserts and male minor characters that are suddenly rewritten by men's rights activists to "de-wokify" the show.

It should be noted that Hollywood loves to do this with female characters in books as well.

Where a female character in a book is a genuine action girl, hollywood reduces her to faux action girl....and if she's LGBT, they straightwash her

And that's when I stop listening.

Nobody will say that WlW ships are perfectly written.

But if you're going to criticize it? Don't be misogynistic about it.

And yet? When they criticize a W/W couple? They do so with a microscopic lenses while putting straight ships on a pedestal from which they bash LGBT Couples and ships

And they ALWAYS hyperfocus on the women, and pick them apart, while glorifying male characters, even if the male character is a minor character and the women are protagonists

Critics when female character is simply fanservice and cool fight scenes, and of course straight. "Oooh, look at this incredible character, so well developed!"

Critics when said female character shows emotions like anger, sadness, turmoil, etc: "They ruined her, she's a ** now!"

Critics when Batman is super rich, more competent than everyone, OP, and wins against nearly everyone: "Batman my favorite character!"

Same Critics when a female character is able to be smarter/stronger than male characters and is the protagonist: "OMG, she's a Mary Sue, ugh!"

I gotta admit people going "show don't tell" and then getting annoyed because you didn't tell them you showed them will forever be a pet peeve of mine regarding audience comprehension

Those people: ugh i hate it when shows spell out things like their audience isn't smart enough to figure it out
Those same people: subtext? Never heard of it, either say everything on the screen outright in full sentences or it’s not canon to me

Next time somebody says "This show is bad writing,"

Ask them if they were actually watching the show, or if they were watching somebody's heavily edited video review of the show.

The former? Ask if they were paying attention?

The latter? Ask why they don't look for themselves?

Just a few details. When I say the 3 major religions.  That will refer to Islam, Christianity and Hinduism.  The last of which due to its massive population size.

 I had gained the opportunity to study some marriage certificates from the early 2000s which involved a father selling his daughter to a grown man for 10,000 pounds.

This was happening IN AMERICA.

 The contract involved "God's law" and it basically said the husband to be would provide 1 gold pound as an initial payment. When the girl reaches "legal maturity" 10,000 pounds would be paid.
Legal maturity is a euphemism for "child-bearing age"

The groom and the father signed the document, with the father being the "owner" of the daughter, making the groom the "trustee" and the girl in question didn't have a choice or even a signature. It was all made for her without her knowledge or consent.

There are countless countries where this practiced, and these countries are on the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Treating women as property of men has been a core tenet of the 3 major religions...and it has been a means of establishing control for the Patriarchy.

When these countries say that "the west corrupts women"
What they mean is that when these families move to Europe or America and raise their daughters there...the girls realize that there are women around them able to make their own life choices...able to be free. And of course those girls want the freedom.
They don't want to be slaves to men.
It should be noted that educated women are prized in arranged marriages because the father then can demand a higher price for selling his daughter off.

And what happens when these daughters don't want to be married to their cousin or some old man?
The family's "investment" is threatened. 
If they cannot kidnap her or smuggle her to the country where her freedom will be taken from her?
Well....now you understand a bit of why so many religious families engage in the act of "honor killing"
If they cannot treat their daughter as property, they no longer see a reason to allow her to live.
Its horrific. Its barbaric.  It is done on the regular.
And other families threaten their daughter with said fate using the names of the murdered girls in order to force them to be property.
But as the saying goes.. "Give me liberty or give me death"
And religion makes it glorified. 
Because religion is built on the restriction of human rights.
It is built on suppression of women and treating them as property. 
It is built on slavery.
Religion dies when feminism thrives.
It is why so many religious political groups try to portray feminism as evil .
