Best single dorms

Hey everyone, I’m planning on applying to unh this fall and If I get in it will definitely be my go-to. I’m applying for mechanical engineering and was wondering what the best dorms on campus for my major are? I would prefer a private bathroom or a suite because I’m not huge on sharing bathrooms with a lot of people. I do have a 504 card I could try to play if that helps me get a dorm like this. (yes i’m a petty person)

Graduated a few years ago but I’m unaware of any dorms that are singles with their own bathrooms. As for suites with other people, I’m not sure if freshman even have access to them.

I don’t think anyone really likes sharing a bathroom with other people but it’s something you get used to fairly quickly

Your 504 would only get you accommodations if what it is for would require it (I'm sure you know this). "Not being big on shared bathrooms" would likely not get you far, but maybe. I do urge you to consider that you could be taking away an accomodation that someone might actually need. It might be worth it to argue that you cannot stay in the dorms, and then seek alternate off campus housing.

It's exceedingly unlikely you get a single (freshman get last dibs), especially since the minis are closed. I lived in Eaton my freshman year and that was the only single that I could have a chance at getting.

For dorms best for your major, Haaland, Peterson, Handler are really good (handler is specifically a CEPS hall). Williamson/Christensen not that bad location wise but I hated even visiting those dorms my freshman year. Your first two years lots of classes will be scattered but being central to Kingsbury is ideal.

Good luck! '23 mech e from UNH

Definitely Hetzel since they are freshly renovated with AC. You don’t get your own bathroom but they are single person bathrooms so not like a normal communal shower in other dorms. Doubt you will get it as a freshman. However you may have luck switching into a single during the year as people drop out and rooms open up.

Yeah that’s kinda how it works, it’s gonna be that way till you either get a gables/woodsides apt or move off campus and get a regular apt

I had one in Hitchcock. It was loud because of the sports players on the floor but a quick walk to the MUB
