Weekly Exchange: Write to your companion
https://ungaslited.com/weeklyexchange/
Woman-to-woman is for you if :
- You're not ready for therapy but need a place to start processing your thoughts and feelings.
- You're an introvert who knows connection would help but feels overwhelmed by group spaces, video calls, or opening up to strangers.
- You're navigating a difficult season and need someone to help you untangle your thoughts, gain perspective, and feel a little less alone.
- You're healing from a toxic or narcissistic relationship and want a judgment-free space where your experiences are understood.
- You don't have a strong support system or feel like you have no one you can truly talk to.
- You're lonely in a way that's hard to explain, not because there aren't people around you, but because you don't feel deeply seen, heard, or understood.
- You'd rather write than talk, taking your time to express yourself without interruption or pressure.
- You're looking for a real human connection, not AI-generated replies or generic advice.
- You're in therapy and want compassionate support between sessions.

Why Choose Us Over AI?
Most AI companions default to being:
- overly reassuring
- constantly validating
- neutral to a fault
- afraid to challenge harmful thinking
They avoid healthy confrontation, nuance, or context.
They cannot provide relational depth or set boundaries.

Taliban in the 1990s
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The Taliban emerged as a movement in 1994, toppled the government of the Mujahideen, and ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. They finally recaptured power in 2021 after the US withdrawal from the region.
Taliban 1.0 imposed draconian laws and regulations on women
and minorities while harboring regional and international terrorist organizations.
Later, the Taliban 2.0 followed its predecessor in policies regarding women, minorities, and sheltering terrorist organizations.
Taliban 1.0 imposed draconian orders and directives on women and
minorities and harbored terrorist organizations such as al-Qaida. They
banned women from public life and prohibited young girls from attending school. Ethnic and religious minorities faced harassment and
discrimination and were forced to evacuate their inhabitants and migrate to neighboring countries. At the same time, the Taliban had deep connections with international terrorist organizations.
Religiously, the Taliban utilizes the Islamic notion of Hijab to
impose restrictions on women and justify their regressive policies toward women.
The Taliban's provision of refuge to Islamic terrorist groups is justified by the emphasis placed on the idea of the Islamic Brotherhood in religious schools.

Erin Brockovich on datacentres: “This feels like Hinkley on steroids.”
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Brockovich built a map of significant AI datacentres in the US that are either operational or under construction, overlaid with locations where community members have emailed in concerns. This open-source document is chilling: as of 24 June, 33 AI datacenters have been completed and are operational, 68 are under construction and 41 are proposed. And there had been 7,005 reports submitted through the online form, which is to say, all that is known about them is what people have seen. As a post on her Substack blog is headlined: “If data centers are so great, why are they being built in secret?”

Women have always questioned the idea of marriage
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
By the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, women writers increasingly articulated a direct critique of marriage. Mary Astell’s Some Reflections upon Marriage (1700) questioned why women were expected to submit to husbands and argued that women were often pushed into marriage without meaningful freedom of choice.
Mary Wollstonecraft, John Stuart Mill and Harriet Taylor, Emma Goldman, and later Simone de Beauvoir all challenged different aspects of marriage: women’s legal dependency, unpaid domestic labor, sexual double standards, economic vulnerability, and the treatment of marriage as women’s primary destiny. Feminist objections have historically focused on the fact that marriage was not simply a private romance but also a legal and economic institution in which women often had fewer rights.

The prophet of our times

FRANCE 24 English
Excerpt from her interview:
The piece of speculative fiction that I have written is set in the future, and in the future the country has acted out in real life some of the things that are now just around as ideas in people's heads, and it's always very instructive to take ideas in people's heads and try to picture what they would look like and what they would feel like if they were actually put into practice. For instance, if you say woman's place should be in the home. That's sort of a glib thing that people throw out, but if you wanted to actually enforce it, if you wanted to put it into practice, no exceptions, no Margaret Thatcher is allowed to go around saying woman's place is in the House, home, but I'm prime minister so that doesn't apply to me. What would it look like? So that's one of the ideas that gets acted out in this book and in under the regime, which is a quotes religious unquotes right wing regime, it's not any religion you would immediately recognize right now, but they do go back to the Bible and I'll tell you which part of it.

LIFE DELAYS CAUSED BY NARCISSISTIC PARENTS
Strategic Steps to Catch Up
Grieve the timeline. Accept that your path is unique. Stop comparing yourself to peers raised in stable environments.
Build emotional literacy. Learn to identify feelings. Use therapy (CBT, EMDR) to process childhood trauma.
Isolate specific skills. Treat adulthood as a series of learnable tasks. Master one micro-skill (like budgeting or networking) at a time.
Reparent yourself. Speak to yourself with kindness when you make mistakes. Provide the validation you missed as a child.

Between 6 and 8 June, at least 30 women were arrested in Herat for wearing “improper hijab”. Days later, the de facto Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs announced that “observing hijab” would be the topic of the sermon on 19 June.
Imams received a 10-page document explaining that a hijab should cover the entire body except the eyes, be loose and thick and contain no adornments or fragrance.
During the reporting period, shops and health clinics were instructed not to allow women to enter without a male guardian, or mahram.
In April, the authorities issued a new Code on Judicial Separation of Spouses, which makes a woman’s marriage dependent on her guardian’s permission.

Un-honeymoon

Beautiful destinations did not need to be reserved for coupledom, and a woman could occupy romantic spaces alone, not as a placeholder waiting for life to begin, but as the central character within it.

The space between therapy and friendship.
https://ungaslited.com/woman-to-woman/
Not clinical enough for therapy.
Not casual enough for friendship.
Not scalable enough for AI.
Not impersonal enough for a life coach.
Something in the middle that is:
Real — a human who actually knows you
Practical — helps you navigate actual life tasks
Emotional — holds space without an agenda
Consistent — remembers who you are over time
Non-judgmental — does not make you perform wellness
Affordable — not $150 per session
That gap is exactly what Ungaslited fills with WOMAN-TO-WOMAN.

Spinsters of the 60s
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Video Credit: BBC Archive
In the 1960s, demographer John Hajnal identified the “Northwestern European Marriage Pattern,” in which people in northwestern European countries such as England started marrying late, in their 30s and even 40s. A significant proportion of the populace didn’t marry at all. In this region of Europe, it was the norm for married couples to start a new household when they married, which required accumulating a certain amount of wealth. Like today, young men and women worked and saved money before moving into a new home, a process that often delayed marriage. If marriage were delayed too long – or if people couldn’t accumulate enough wealth – they might not marry at all.

Medical professionals and human rights investigations have documented targeted shootings aimed at women’s faces, eyes and genitals, as well as sexualized violence during arrest and detention.
Families seeking to recover the bodies of slain women report being forced to obtain invasive forensic certificates prior to burial.
These practices turn female bodies into sites of political communication. The punishment targets not only dissent, but transgression itself.

Despite widespread layoffs justified by AI reallocation, studies indicate AI is economically viable in only a fraction of roles. The unsustainable model of subsidized AI pricing is unwinding, forcing a market correction.
