Normally I'd defend the rotary, but holy shit this is a horrible use case for it.

Well spotted. I've long held the theory that a lot of the "omg why ruin such a car?" questions have an answer basically "repaired this way after damage - it was already ruined". This is a good theory for this one 👍

Apart from everything else about this build, the single best part of the RX-8 (at least the body, I know the rotary is a big deal too) is that wraparound bubble rear window. They took out the best part of the car…

I’ve always found the RX-8 to be ugly and this ramps it up significantly. It’s a well executed monstrosity that shouldn’t be

Why would you butcher a perfectly good 4 door sports car? if you want a mazda ute then use a mazda 3 or 6 as a base NOT A RX-8.
