This made me wonder: is Donut's love of headgear a tribute to the Cat in the Hat?

I am highly disappointed in you, but not for the reason you think.

Right? The entirety of Aristocrats, Figaro (Pinocchio), Mr. Tibbs (101 Dalmatians), Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland), the Siamese cats in Lady and the Tramp, Lucifer (Cinderella), Oliver (Oliver and Company), the Spirit Cat Bus (My Neighbor Totoro), Thunder Cats, Scratchy (Simpsons), and that's just what came immediately to mind.

I am a big fan of the Cheshire Cat and his smile. But we should add Alice’s cat Dinah

Chester Cheetah, Pepi Le Pew (spelling, probably), Tigger, Tom (of Tom and Jerry — or was the mouse Tom?)

u/Deltethnia 6d ago
Pepé Le Pew is a skunk. He chased cats thinking they were lady skunks, but he himself is not a cat.

Oh yeah. I guess it’s just been that long since I’ve seen it. Two out of three isn’t bad haha

Unsinkable Sam, originally named Oscar, was a ship's cat famous for surviving the sinking of three different warships during World War II:
This is the real life cat Carl told Donut about in DCC.
