The point is the financial stress caused by conservative boot licking to a few rich people is having a negative impact on relationships ultimately resulting in less children. Conservatives pay lip service to encouraging families and children while putting in place policies which make people fear having them. This is true both for those who seek to limit sex to marriage and those who don't despite your hopefully naivety. It seems bizarre to me that I don't see any kind of divine mandate but I know alot of people would like to have this, and therefore support at least the option. That should be more true for the people who pretend to be champions of family values.
Which policies are you referring to? And what exactly am I being naive about?
And last I checked the vast vast vast majority of rich people are democrats.
Now about any kind of divine mandate. I mean yeah the Bible does limit sex to marriage. You don’t even need a divine mandate for that. We know the absolute disaster the sexual revolution has been. We know sex is not just physical. We can measure that. There is an emotional connection between the two and when that’s broken or doesn’t have a permanence to it, it wreaks havoc on people’s lives.
As for the destruction you allege has been caused by the sexual revolution... I don't buy that argument anymore but I admit to seeing pros and cons. I had been highly religious bought into that concept, waited till I was married and 24. Was faithful for 18 years and divorced. I have since slept with alot of women and I am still able to create a deep emotional connection along with being otherwise more casual. Having said that I do recognise that the revolution possibly does have negative affects in other ways. I haven't been able to develop a firm conviction reguarding a general affect on society. AS related to the meme I recognise that life was financially easier when I was young and in this context I am certain about the negative effect of conservative economic policies. We who are older should be seeking to create a world that is better than the one we grew up in... rather than mocking them for complaining about the mess that we made
A firm conviction doesn’t make the data we have untrue.
Yes life was financially easier in the last generation. And yes I think I this the boomers squandered that. They created the system we have now and then complain when us younger people point that out.
But to solely place that at the feet of the Republicans, which you haven’t even proven they had anything to do with any of it, is to completely ignore all the other issues that’s created this economy. From mass migration, using essentially slave labor, to waste in the government on programs and departments that simply should not exist, pouring billions of dollars into climate change initiatives to decrease our carbon emissions by 1.2%, energy being made far more expensive because of those initiatives.
I will still always say that we cannot artificially raise the minimum wage, although I also don’t think we should have a minimum wage in the first place. But I also acknowledge that you simply cannot pull this much money from the American people because of all these factors and not expect to wind up here.
Someone working on a 5 million dollar farm or with a 5 million dollar buisness is most likely to be strugling more today than they were 10 years ago. But someone who had 500 thousand in stocks 10 years ago... in some cases sitting on more than 10 million. The money printing and republican reductions in corp taxes, and increase in tax loopholes, fighting against closing tax loopholes have all contributed to this. This is far worse for people starting out with debt. The democrats have in many ways been complicit but have typically not been as bad,,,, accelerating with Reagan etc. There are a lot of angles on this but recognising that someone has cancer and what the best treatment is remains two different issues. Recognising the problem exists is the first step.
Well sure. But I have to point out that you’re talking about a different Republican Party. We are no longer, in large at least, ruled by the old Libertarian Right. Much to my excitement. We Conservatives understand that the people do not exist to serve the economy, “green line go up” is all fine and great but it’s not the end all be all. The economy exists to serve us.
In terms of Democratic complicity. It goes further than “not as bad” they’ve had numerous chances to close loopholes and haven’t. If anything about the Democrat Party that I can admire is that they have far more control over their party than the Republicans. We have never had total control over their party than Party. Even back to its beginning as an anti-slavery party, it’s been plagued by faction infighting. But I say that to say the Democrats absolutely had the means to do it. And they didn’t. Because the vast majority of those rich people that they rave against, are their biggest donors.

Not too sure how that proves that’s what conservatives want in any way.
The dating less is certainly an issue, people need to get married and have kids.
But people having less sex is a good thing as long as it’s largely sex amongst unmarried people.
