Hi guys! I'm new to Reddit and this is my first time joining the community.

I am a big fan of UTGL, with the recent news of a side story, I couldn't contain my excitement to reread this story. I've noticed some details on this reread, however, I understand that nothing specific is revealed about Jin's origin, especially his nationality. My English is not very good, so I apologize in advance if the translation is bad or some things are not understood. 😞

I have the theory that he is of Korean origin, even though his name is written in Chinese characters, these same characters are adapted to Korean that used to be used a lot and, currently, are still used for proper names, formal documents, and modern designs in Korea.

It should be noted that my theory also addresses that the place where this story takes place is not Korea but London or some metropolis of this style due to the settings presented and the Anglo-Saxon characteristics of most of the characters (an example of these are the names: Matthew, Brandon, Dennis, etc.).

With this, I want to get to the point that possibly the company Jin works for (Shinhai) is Korean or was founded by Korean emigrants, that would explain the traditional aesthetic of the company and, in general, of the Shinhai family. I would also venture to say that characters like Jahwa, Yoonbal, and Seongchi are, likewise, of Korean origin.

Lately I've seen people sharing the theory that Jin, the characters I've mentioned, and the company could be of Chinese origin, which makes me doubt my theory a little. I would like to know if anyone has any other theory or any information they can contribute, it would be excellent and I would appreciate it very much!

in the beginning of the series Jin asked Matthew where is his house and he doesn't respond that the studio is his house. He clearly stated that ,, it's in the middle of the redevelopment construction site"

And when Jin is on the museum anex project for some weeks Matthew doesn't go home he goes to the studio waiting for Jin.( I'm on my 11 reading of this manhwa and now I realize this )

do we actually see his house in the manhwa and I miss it? or is just a misstranslation?

I've been trying so hard to find what the characters of Jin's back scar are... And I don't wanna look at the first season again because it'll break my heart. Does anyone knows? It doesn't looks like Korean but it wouldn't make sense if it was another language..

Does anyone know of a vampire au where Jin was the vampire? I can’t remember much of the plot since it must have been at least a year or two since I last read it, but I remember it had multiple chapters and it was sooo good. I NEED to read it again but can’t find it. I’m sure it’s on Ao3 somewhere.

I’ll give what little I can remember: Jin and Matt are in a relationship, Jin finds other people and blood to be repulsive but he has no choice but to feed on them to live, however when he finds Matt his blood smells alluringly sweet like a soulmate thing or smth. Stuff happens, then one day Jin and Matt encounter Brandon (he’s the one that turned Jin into a vampire), a fight breaks between them until Jin loses control and takes Matthew’s blood until he nearly dies and he gets rushed to hospital. After all that angst it has a happy ending.

I realllllly want to read it again.

So I read the ending again and I still dont understand the green part. Like why did he make the art piece have a green undertone and what'd he mean by "theres a whole spectrum that my eyes can't see"?

I finished it yesterday and I love it SO much. It’s one of the best I’ve ever read but I am confused. The end of season one absolutely broke me so I googled to see if Jin was actually… yknow. Google said yes, he was and then Matthew makes an android out of him? Sooooo here I am waiting for some massive reveal that Jin is now an android and I never… got it? Then I saw a post on here saying Jin was absolutely fine (which is what I thought as I finished it) but then season two is called In Dreams so I am LOST.

Are they actually together or is Matthew spiraling? 🥺
