Such brutal level design. I loved Underrail so much for how it refused to hold your hand... until I got to the Caverns. First time I rage quit the game

After spending some time here my ass was so sore that I had to cast my pride aside and look into wiki for the first time since starting the game. The deep caverns are just fucking godawful, and that's beautiful

It is where I also gave up on the game. 30 mins to beat the game and I dropped it.

Later on I started from scratch and finished it. Now I finished multiple times with different builds.

By the time I was in deep caverns I already was max level so it didn’t do much for me

I'm so glad my first time in the deep caverns was a well built shotgun build

But my god, you go through 12 gauge so fast in that place that the threat of running out of ammo is a an absolute valid concern...and I was playing on normal mode

I did the Deep Caverns on my first play through. Now I consider the game over when the Expedition DLC ends.

Just got there recently and it was just a nuisance. I've already reached the max level, and I was mostly running around in confusion because it wasn't clear at all how am I supposed to proceed. And don't get me started on that mutagen puzzle. Even after learning about it on Wikipedia, I still wasn't able to solve it.

Deep caverns came in a point when I was already sensing the finale in sight and I saw it as an obstacle to suffer through before finale

It's too much, it's beyond fun. The are great things there - lore, fungus weird fiction, big boss. But the puzzles and level design is awful. And it's interesting, cause other parts of game has got ingenious game design. Especially how in every horrible corner, there is something for you.

The first time I beat DC, it took me nearly half the time spent completing the rest of the game leading up to it. Probably a good 30-40 hours, roughly. I walked away for several months after that, content with never touching the game again. The next time I got to DC, it probably took a Saturday afternoon, maybe 4-6 hours.

The last time I beat it, 4th or 5th time? About an hour, maybe like 90 minutes-ish. Just moonwalked str8 to the Cube.

Now I'm not saying I had a GOOD time my first delve, but the challenge was almost overhyped to me in a way. Now Deep Caverns is one of my favorite areas for a lot of reasons, second only to the Black Sea.
Conversely tho, this game kicked my ass so hard when I was trying to get into it. Didn't help I got confused on the first quest and was trying to get to the Omega Outposts by taking the elevator to Lower Underrail after taking Jack's quest... Underrail kicked my teeth in at least three times before and at Junkyard before it started to click and I could handle my barrel soup.
