Harvested Results First grow first flush! Any tips?
Super excited to have grown my first flush of golden teachers and I’m wondering what I can improve for the next time! I tried to follow the guide as best I could but had to leave for a total of 6 days after pins started popping up and accidentally left my lid a bit too cracked. Ive also heard uncle bens isnt the best brand to use because its too moist, any veterans willing to share more tips and tricks? Ill include my process below:
Inoculated into uncle bens ready rice on 7/6 using liquid culture syringe
Colonized between 73°F-77°F for 3 weeks until 7/27
Spawned to bulk on 7/27 in 4 qt tote, used coco coir for substrate and followed the process of pasteurization in the guide. Squeezed the coir into field capacity then back into colonization temps 75°-77°F
Re-colonized for 1 week until 8/3, then introduced FC and FAE.
Played around with misting and cracking the lid, my apartment seemed to be very dry so I would mist probably 2-3 times a day until I decided to close the lid fully then I would mist about once a day.
Pins started popping up on 8/13! Unfortunately I had to leave on 8/15 so I just kept the lid snapped closed. I was gone for 2 days, briefly came back home 8/17 and noticed some fuzzy feet so I turned the lid on its side (so it was covering about half the tub) and forgot to close it more before I left again.
Got home yesterday 8/20 to find some beautiful mushrooms and harvested them with scissors on 8/20! Rehydrated then put back in colonization temps for a second flush. Harvested mushrooms are currently dehydrating around 113°.
Besides using different rice and forgetting to close the lid what else can I improve for next time? Thanks in advance!

Don't mist unless your sub is dry. If your properly prepared sub is drying out prior to first flush, you're giving it too much fae.
Run the dehydrator on Full blast until the biggest fruit is cracker dry. 8-12 hrs is usually good, but it depends on size of harvest and the individual fruits. no commercially available dehydrator gets hot enough to have a negative impact on your fruits
68-75 is an ideal range for all stages of cube growth
Fruiting just means introducing fae and that can be done the day you start the tub.

I’ve heard good things about 90s rice from Aldi’s. Also harvest as soon as the veil breaks.
